New around these here parts......

Hello All,

I recently registered and want to introduce myself. Ric has very kindly allowed me to start this thread, as maybe an opportunity for non-City fans on Bluemoon to introduce themselves - if they want to. For me, it felt rude just jumping in and posting without saying who I am and why I’m on here.

So, cards (albeit a joker) on the table: I’m a lapsed Fulham supporter, but your lads and manager (and especially this forum) have rekindled my interest in football.

I haven’t been to The Cottage for about 30 years (!), as I pretty much despise the modern pro game and all it has come to stand for.

From cringey badge-kissing, feigning injuries, obscene wages, ‘professional footballers’ only being able to kick with one foot, etc., the game has had it at pro level for me (yes folks, you’ve got a miserable bastard on your hands). And my view was formed a long time ago.

However, one good thing about how (mostly) predictable money has made football (esp. the Prem) is that I’ve made a few quid betting on it. Not fortunes, but bills money – which has been a life-saver over the past 2 years.

Rather daftly, part of my ‘research’ is having a look at club supporters’ forums; to see how they fancy their chances/what injuries/news they have etc. in games I’m looking at for a bet. Mostly, that’s a futile exercise, as it’s generally the same mix of blind optimism and doom and gloom merchants.

However, this forum is an exception. I have become a regular visitor to Bluemoon, because there’s tons of great sense spoken about the game....and a lot of brilliant banter and proper laughs.

I also respect your humility, and how you never forget about the times when you were struggling, and that it all goes round in circles for the big teams (sadly not for my lot!). What I mean is you realise all the big sides seem to get a spell on top, but also have relative ‘wilderness’ periods.

Of course, your side has played sublime stuff for many years. But what I appreciate as much, is that you don’t have any nasty bastards in your squad; no one rolls around to get players booked or holds up imaginary cards to the ref etc. In a nut-shell, your team plays with amazing fairness and honesty. That’s pretty much unheard of nowadays– and you should be equally proud of that, as of the incredible stuff you play.

Special mention to your ex-skipper, who is as near to Bobby Moore in terms of talent and pure humanity as any footballer I’ve seen since. I believe Vincent (and Pep) has a lot to do with how liked you are in the football world (by genuine footie lovers, not the legacy media, or idiots with agendas).

Anyway, I really hope you can accept me into the fold. And I promise you I’ll never ever forget that I am a guest in your house (so of course I will expect tea and cake whenever I pop by).

All the best, and look after yourselves!!
Hi, welcome to bluemoon we never forget where we used to be (not us old ones anyway) never take anything for granted. Hope you enjoy the banter

Used to be a kebab shop on the same side as Tooting Broadway. Proper Stavros job and the hottest chili I have ever had. Left a burn mark on the lip.

I get what you mean about the modern game, however , the one thing Fulham have that sets it apart from the modern game is a beautiful old stadium , had the pleasure of watching city there but I'm also on Fulham palace road on a regular basis and take great pleasure in having a walk past the stadium if I have time and admiring how beautiful it is and how football used to be

Yeah. Whenever we used to walk down Finlay street towards the ground, I always got goosebumps (no word of a lie) when the Cottage came into view.

Of course I get the necessity for modern stadiums, but you must miss the history of Maine Road.....standing where so many of your family did....looking at that pitch and daydreaming about the greats who graced it etc. Never mind Scott Parker, I think I'm Ron Manager.
