New Beatles song released

I started off as a pianist and then moved to guitar, did a music tech degree :)

If you like Simon and Garfunkel, there’s a fair amount of Beatles to discover that you should like to be honest! They had some great acoustic songs.
I'll be more than happy to admit I'm wrong if I end up enjoying them.
Thinking about it, it's not the first time I've been guilty of dismissing a band based on a few listens to their hits.
Case in point, a band called talk talk, had a couple of hits in the eighties, thought they were awful, just another pop band. Then the live show was recommended on here, and they are absolutely brilliant.
Same for the "stop making sense" show, also recommended on here, I wasn't a talking heads fan until I saw this.
I try to keep my blinkers off, but there's only so much time I can dedicate to music

Ah I was the same with talking heads! loved stop making sense. It was the beach boys for me too, didn’t listen to Pet Sounds for years and as soon as I did it was instantly one of my favourite albums.

Try the songs i mentioned and see if you like any of them, they’re nice to play too and can suit any level of guitar player.

I knew all the hits, but they were let's say, "interesting" at best.
I didn't give them much attention, they were just there, maybe not promoted to be massive, I don't know.
But when I saw that show, I was gobsmacked. He's a bit of a genius, and I don't use that word a lot. And the band were brilliant.

Completely agree.

Ah my comment wasn’t in a reply to you and I meant it to be, sorry, posting it again :)

Blackbird, Michelle, You’ve got to hide your love away, Here comes the sun, Norwegian Wood and I’ve just seen a face are all good to play on the acoustic off the top of my head :)

We can work it out and a day in the life are musical genius too.

Other songs I’d give a listen to and are good to play are while my guitar gently weeps (it’s Clapton that’s playing the lead on a fair bit of that), Come Together, Eleanor Rigby and Something.

Do you want to know a secret was one of the first songs I learned on guitar, I got taught it when I was 14 by Tom Jones’s guitarist in the middle of the night on a ferry to Spain when we were both drunk (that’s honestly a true story!)

No worries, thanks for that fella.
You were drunk with Tom Jones guitarist when you were 14?
That's got to be true, even I couldn't make that up lol.
Cheers for the reccos

Yep! He was getting frustrated with me for not being able to do the barre chords, it was mostly because I’d had two big bottles of kronenbourg and at 14 that was me drunk!

Reason he taught it me was he said it was one of the first songs he’d learned and was great for dexterity. Still play it from time to time now!

Some things are best left where they belong.
They were very much of the time, wrote some good tunes but were massively overhyped, and remain so today.
Even McCartney said they were just a decent beat combo, and he was right.
Most of there stuff was either generic pop, or drug fuelled nonsense.
Add the scouse elevate and worship factor, and there you have it.
The original boy band, who had a bit of talent, but are no where near as good as people often suggest.
Right time, right place.
The matching suits, haircuts, etc, didn't happen by accident.
I find most of their well known material generic, populist jang a lang shite. They probably invented it.
They knew what they were doing, and I don't fault them for that.
I don't get the adulation, never have, never will.
How many bands did the beatles actually influence directly? Not many thankfully.
Having said that, each to there own, but not for me
The body of work that they produced in the 7 years that they recorded has never come close to being equalled. So many classic songs, so many different styles.
They were the greatest group ever.

The End

Always makes me laugh a bit this.
Have a look at this list of hundreds of artists that sang and recorded Beatles songs, it's bloody endless.
Hundreds of the worlds greatest artists, Dylan , Bowie, Aretha, Ella, Sinatra, Bennett, Elton John, Elvis (the real one and Costello) Beach Boys, Bee gees, Marvin Gaye, Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson, Sinead O'Connor, Neil Young, Neil Diamond even the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra ,how stupid they were to record songs that were such nonsense and generic.

What other band has come anywhere near this?
