New chants

for the record, it wouldn't have killed anyone. The ball was too close to him and therefore traveling slow. Wouldve done more damage hit from distance as the speed would have built up to 70 plus mph, from short distance no real speed would have built up.
I guess you neither a physicist, nor a mathematician, because after being struck the ball would only get slower. Its the strike of the ball that accelerates it, and immediately friction with the air starts to slow it down.

Wrong. Your ignoring the very force which thrusts an object to its target, acceleration.

Secondly, I'm afraid to disappoint you on your guess but my knowledge on the subject is not derived from guesswork or conjecture. Perhaps my explanation in the last post wasn't clear so Ill try and clarify if it makes you happier.

Simply put, it takes an object time to build up acceleration, in this case the ball. From leaving the boot the ball will not accelerate to 70 mph immediately no matter how hard it's hit. (Eg: A car will not go from 0 to 60 in 0 seconds no matter how powerful the engine) this has to do with inertia, motion and Mr Newtons gravity and the forces of physics.

Regardless of this, the ball is full of air, it will not kill someone otherwise we might have a few more people ducking out of walls because by the time the ball travels 10 yards the force, speed and power of the ball is far greater than one travelling over a few feet which means impact would be far greater over the objects prime distance. (The distance where it achieves maximum velocity before, as you point out, starting to reduce in speed)

Bacon face was wrong to say what he said and you can defend it all you want but fact is better than fiction in most instances.

I hope you don't teach science to any kids.

-- 29 Dec 2012, 17:47 --

I'm not, the force involved is the kicking of the ball, that is the total acceleration, from at the most a few milliseconds after the ball is kicked its slowing down.

I'm with ed on this one, it would speed up to it's maximum speed then slow down afterwards.

I think the word 'velocity' should be in the explanation somewhere too but I might be getting mixed up with that.

This isn't someone jumping off of a bridge. It's a ball being kicked. I can't believe how daft some people are.

Cleavers my good man, I do not want to get one up on you in a debate with a fellow Blue on a subject which was created by Baconface. I have no interest in scoring points to prove you wrong in a post where I simply wanted to prove Baconface wrong. Why your defending him against me I don't understand therefore to honourably conclude I will give an out by simply asking you to speak to any neurologist and ask them if an air filled football hit from two feet can kill.

The reason for my response was to point out that Ferguson's quote about RVP being killed was overdramatising a fallacy to create effect, whether he was aware of it or not. Story ends!

The change in velocity is immediate from the kicking of the ball, there is no other force involved after that so it can't accelerate further (unless you are at the top of a cliff and kick it down, when gravity would add to initial the acceleration).

Did the Arse chant anything about their beloved RVP today? Didn't from what I heard but I only dipped in and out of their game today.

The atmosphere was ace, some lads at the back kept the chants coming. One of the chants was so freaking loud and it involved alot of clapping? May of been the champions of England chant, sounded brilliant.

Voice is just recovering.

what was the nastasic one? something about fucking dynamite..???

also one during the second half i think, an unusual tune and loads of clapping.. i think most people didn't know the words but just did the clapping

Everythings gonna be all right,
Please don't worry about a thing (I think)

With lots of clapping in between.

And didn't you just love Joe's reaction when we outsang them as we sang "England's England's Number one" when they were singing that insulting song about him!!?

I never hear any songs or chants for Merlin, do they exist?

LOL I'm not backing the whiskey soaked twat over you, just the physics of it, other than a few milliseconds around the time its struck, a ball can't further accelerate, only decelerate.

If you read some of my other posts, you'll see I've mentioned that RVP "should be dead" a few times, and what the old twat said was ridiculous.
