Kompany set for contract to end career at Manchester City

The Premier League champions' captain is seen as a potential future executive at the club and he is close to signing a new five-year deal to keep him at the Etihad Stadium

EXCLUSIVE
By Paul Clennam

Vincent Kompany is set to sign a new contract that will keep him at Manchester City for the remainder of his career.

The Belgian defender is currently contracted until 2017 but the Premier League champions have proposed an extension that will now run until 2019, which would take the City skipper up to the age of 34.

Kompany earns around £140,000 a week and has previously been a top target for Barcelona.

The player has already indicated that he is happy to stay and the club's top brass see him as a possible future executive at the end of his playing days.

Kompany played 28 games for Manuel Pellegrini's side in 2013-14 as they recaptured the Premier League title.

City are currently reviewing a number of deals.

Goal exclusively revealed in December that Samir Nasri was also to be offered a new five-year deal and the French star's agent has now signed off on the terms.

Clennam is quite reliable when it comes to City.

Cracking news ... Sami, Vinny, Kun, David, and Edin are the five for me who hopefully will all get new contracts this summer.

What a load of bollocks Goal makes up, http://www.mcfc.co.uk/news/team-new...mpany-signs-six-year-manchester-city-contract
He signed a 6 year deal in July 2012 which takes him up to 2018 and 32 years old. At the time the MEN reported it was worth £30 million to him, the Mirror happily doubled it and stated as a fact that it was worth £60 million.

Re: New Contracts

Is this the problem with yaya then? Others already getting bigger contracts? Does he not realise he's probably still the highest paid at the club?

Possible but considering he likes to do his negotiating via twitter it's difficult to say. That 140-character limit must make agreeing on fine details rather tricky.
