New EDS Boss?

Impossible to say, as you have no way of knowing how much input he had as Vieira's assistant. No harm in giving him until the end of the season to show if he's any better or just more of the same without the aura of being a world class player. Vieira didn't strike me as someone who would really put anyone elses opinion before his own, so I'd be surprised if Davies had much of a say towards the more baffling choice made.

I'm with you on this one. Might as well look at it as an interim basis and if he's successful then you can look into extending it, if not or if there is a change of manager for the senior squad then maybe our new manager will appoint someone himself.

Seems a good appointment at least for some continuity, i assume we have a development plan in place for all the young players and this will allow them to continue without any sort of real adjustment period. No idea how good a coach he is, but given how good our coaching supposedly is in general at youth levels, i'm assuming those in charge of identifying the suitable personnel are decent judges.

Bit disappointed someone like Uwe wasn't offered the job. If anyone deserves a stable job and a bit of a break it's that guy.

Then again I'll give the new boss the benefit of the doubt.

New manager or not, he'll be appointing sod all. Except for (maybe) a little bit of input the hierarchy above him will decide who's taking charge.

On the contrary, i'd have been disappointed if we had offered Uwe the job. Showed absolutely nowt to suggest he's up to it and it'd be a backwards 'jobs for the boys' mentality. Love him, but i dont trust him coaching future world stars as there is no indication he's capable.

Sums it up for me. We have to trust that the club know what they are doing. It could be that he is a better man to run the EDS than Viera? I know there are some who think Viera going is good news for our youngsters. Sounds a very down to earth guy from the recent inreview

Geniuine question, is this such a bad appointment? I really have no idea what he is like as a coach, leader of other coaches or football philosophy etc. Anyone got any creditable opinions or knowledge? I'm guessing that the CFA hierarchy ( Txiki ) know what there doing and realise he must have a good reputation or made a good impression.
As I've said earlier in the thread, this is the right appointment. He's incredibly popular among the players, he's been working with the U21's all season anyway so it's all good.

There are a lot of players in our youth set up that were incredibly happy Si got the role ahead of some other, less popular coaches!
