New fans/tourists are embarrassing

I don't see anything questionable about supporting City from 4 years ago. We were still largely crap then despite a bit of money from Dr. Frank and some renewed hope. There certainly wasn't any glory to hunt in supporting City 4 years ago. I think those who raise objections are more towards the brand new fans who support us because of the players we have and the likelihood we'll win stuff than because they genuinely love the club.

The problem is that even though newer fans will be some glory hunters they are necessary for any club to become a top 5 club.

I would argue that the only things that City is lacking in terms of being amongst the top five clubs in europe is a few trophies but more importantly a huge fanclub. And the thruth is that a majority of these needed fans is gonna be fans that never even visit this site or have the chance to see City on any other way than on TV. This is the reality which all the bigger clubs live with. It is naive to believe that the amount of players and money streaming into the club wont change it.
Typical City is dying and I believe that is a good thing, but it will have consequenses for the club. Not all of these consequenses are considered good, but one of the great consequenses is the fact that City now has the ability to go to Old trafford and win 6 to 1. Who would have thought?

No problem with day trippers, if I was sat amongst them then maybe it would annoy me, but I'm not.

In 5 years lets say, with a new 60K seater, I'll still be sat in the same area as my mates who I meet in the pub before hand and go to the pub with afterwards and talk real football (actually it's more like un-intelligble drunken nonsense.) No day tripper will spoil that for me.

As a season card holder from Jockland in my second season I would like to thank the old/local fans for not turning up allowing me to be a new embarrassing/tourist fan.:)

The attitudes toward newer fans is saddening. I go round with a crowd of mates who largely support London clubs, and have become increasingly interested in football over the last few seasons. I decided to pitch my support in with City based on the matches I have watched this season and the one just gone, because of the quality of the players and the football, but seen to get abuse just for coming to the game late. I went to see a fair few Chelsea games with my best friend, starting in the Mourinho years but the standard of football just didn't doit for me. What's happening at City is exciting. I don't see why long term fans should resent it. From all my football related conversations I don't hear of fans of any other clubs feeling so threatened by so-called outsiders siding with their team, be they Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool fans or whoever

I had a peek at bluemoon the other day and they are currently slating any new 'fans' who hark from anywhere else other than Manchester. They're majorly worried they might have to go back on all the shite they've spouted over the years about being a local club. Even though they've sold their arses for top players and trophies, cueing an influx of new fans from around the UK and internationally. Utter spastics.

You're right. We should relax and be more accommodating to new fans. Here, have an e-pint on me:
