New Food and Drink Vendors for the Ground and City Square | Edible coffee cups introduced

If the capacity is 54,000 and just half of them use the outlets, tell me how the best way to serve 27,000 people in an hour between 2pm and 3pm?

And in just one block, what’s the best way to serve 300 people in 15 mins?
The ‘best way’ is to anticipate stock requirements, have competent, motivated staff, have systems in place to deal with peak periods (especially half time), have dispense systems that are fit for purpose, and have a management structure that takes ownership of the above.

Where do I send my fee note?

Ive looked online and apparently there are 58 kiosks in the stadium. Each one seems to be manned by at least 10 staff of which half are servers taking orders and payment with the other half cleaning, cooking and whatever jobs need doing.

Even if I am even more generous and say a third of the capacity uses the kiosks that’s 18,000 people being served by 290 servering staff in 60 mins or less between 2pm and 3pm.

That’s one customer being served per minute. It’s impossible, taking orders, getting the items, taking payment and that’s without customers changing their mind, faffing about with cards, adding to the orders, changing their mind AND that is just a third of the capacity using it and on the basis of one item per customer.

Now apply the same calculations for 15 mins at half time!!!

Good service at football games will never happen. That’s why it’s 2021 and despite all the technology and decades of experience, there are always big ques on football stadiums concourses.

Id like to see you try and hire 580 competent and well trained staff for 25 times a year. If you could then you would be worth the fee but you would be the worlds first person to do it.

So no pre order for half time drinks available and no fruit ciders like they had last year

They seem to manage it at the cricket.

And ten staff per outlet? I doubt it’s even four.

And I didn’t day I’d do it, but I guarantee I’d find someone who substantively could.

The cricket is totally different to the football in every way. Even at the shortest form of 20/20 you’ve got at least 4 hours of game time where you can go at anytime. Football is condensed to a total of 1 hour 15 mins (1 hour before, 15 mins at half time)

Nothing would entice me to spend my time stressed out in queue for overpriced food and drink of poor quality. When you do get it the place you have to eat and drink it isn't exactly great is it, a dingy packed concourse. Much better to grab a bite in town, cheaper and better quality.

The email I got this week offering craft beers and locally produced food was a total and utter misrepresentation. Not for us plebs in 317. Well done City. 18 months to sort out the poor service at the bar and actually make it worse. In-cred-ible
Completely agree, misrepresentation is the word. Also in 317 and we went in early on the promise of half price craft ale… to be met with the reality of a half hour queue for a half price dark fruits out of a paper cup that tasted of industrial glue. It was like a mini Fyre festival

It is more than possible in this day and age to monitor how much is sold and at what times.

Any sales person worth their salt could interpret that information and put forward a plan to maximise profits.
