I love the white shorts but I still prefer all navy socks..

That's my absolute preference.

That would probably be our best kit since 1989 if we had it.

is Manchester City Football Club in my eyes.

Just wanted to bump this picture again because it shows how great this kit could have been! With the blue shirt, white shorts and navy socks, that is the perfect City kit in my eyes.

Be interesting to know, even for those who aren't fond of the navy socks, could you possibly mistake that kit for anyone other than Manchester City?

Been looking at "historical kits", and Coventry city have had "navy blue" in the kits most of there history, and we do look a bit like them, so if you want to develop some kind of identity, we should just drop all the "navy", and be " blue and white", nothing else. Just my opinion of course.

Navy sock brigade must be a specific age demographic, because there is NO WAY I think of navy socks as "City."

Sky blue or white with contrasting turn over. I grew up with the all sky blue socks with the Umbro diamonds in the turnover, and even enjoyed the sky blue shorts of the era. However, when I think about "My City" it is always sky blue with white trim shirts, white shorts with no trim color, and sky blue socks. I did like the white socks with sky blue turnover last season, though. Thought the white-white shorts and socks combo worked really well with the sky blue trim.

100% this, and I been watching City 45 years.

From reading these threads over the years, the general consensus seems to be:

100% want sky blue shirts

95% prefer white shorts
5% prefer blue shorts

40% prefer sky blue socks
40% prefer navy socks
10% prefer white socks

I agree the era you grew up with has a huge influence on which you prefer. My guess is out of the 5% who prefer blue shorts, 99% of them were born in the early 70s.

Cant change things this season and it'll be white next season regardless. We know a lot think white. We know a lot don't give a fuck. Keep going on about the colour of the kit then 'Full Kit Wankers' will evolve into a new sub-species before long.

We've been MCFC for 120 years, we've had navy socks for 74 years of that and the nearest to it is about 37 years with sky socks. Navy socks is by far ahead of any other colour socks for amount of time with kit.

Thanks for AGREEING with me! Now, pedantic as it might seem, I don't recall watching City for about two-thirds of their 'istree, but then I wasn't even a twinkle in the old man's eye then, either!

I think MOST PEOPLE, especially those who have been long term supporters, have been watching and knowing about City since the mid-late 60s, during which time there may have been quite a few garish iterations of what a Man City kit is/was. However, excepting some of the more ridiculous ones born out of the cash grab of a new kit sponsor every few years "when we were shit," I would venture that MOST PEOPLE would consider "CLASSIC CITY" to be wearing an Umbro kit made up of sky blue and white, white shorts and sky blue socks.

Any deviations from that "basic City kit" have been short lived experiments to change things up and make a few more quid for the kit manufacturers, many of whom went through a rather "80's period" in their designs where it seemed the mentality was bright decoration for the sake of it.

So, while you may well be providing a pertinent history lesson, it has less to do with what CURRENT SUPPORTERS think of what a "modern-era Manchester City" kit looks like and more to do with trying to prove a no longer salient point for the conversation......unless, of course, you want us to go back to black and just throw away the years that put Man City on the map?

For context, like a previous poster, I've only been watching City for about 45 yrs, so I apologize for not knowing much about most of the kits before the 60's, with the exception of the famous Trautman FA Cup kit.
