New striker?

Do we need a conventional striker? - in recent games our most forward five players have scored a lot of goals and the fluidity is a joy to behold.
The more I watch us this season, the more I think Pep is moving towards his vision of total football with everyone interchangeable.
So I don’t expect us to move for a traditional striker. I don’t know who we will go for as I don’t keep up with players around the world much, don’t know which ones have the fluidity and intelligence we will want. I wouldn’t be at all surprised though if it’s a player nobody in this thread has mentioned let alone thought about.

What about Belotti? Has 9 in 18 with 5 assists, scoring 16, 15, 10, 26, 12 in his last 5 seasons. Basically a 1 in 2 scoring rate at a mid-table team. Very consistent, hasn’t missed double figures for 7 years. His contract finishes in 2021 so could be really cheap.
Also, 6 foot, has over 102 goals for them in 212 games (very similar rate to Dzeko in a much worse team) and could probably be gotten for 20mil, so would be risk-free.

I don't think we NEED anything. What we have is working great atm.

But having a more conventional option (Aguero or otherwise) gives us tactical variety that may turn out to be useful.

The false 9 we are playing makes me think Darwin nunez will the be striker we get iv watched him at benfica he's exactly what Pep likes from his strikers, he creates chances I think he has the highest assist tally in the league this season. He runs everywhere can play across the front three cutting in from either wing to create a chance. And he's not a bad finisher. Or unless Pep wants to play a certain Argentine in that position like he did years ago.

Screams City signing. Haaland would be the dream, but Nunez might be a better fit stylistically and you can’t really go wrong with a former Benfica player

It seems IMO like we need someone who can...
1. Take an accurate shot after the minimum of touches when in the box
2. Calmly pass the ball beyond the keeper when 1-on-1.
3. Good decision making when interacting with teammates around the opposition box
4. Accurately and powerfully shoot from distance.

No heading required, no crazy pace required, no mad dribbling skills.

Kane?

3 goals though, doesn't scream that he's the answer. We need a finisher.

Also he was £22mil, and Almeria get 20% of the sell on fee, so automatically they'd want £40/50mil. Too unproven for the money.

For 3 goals? Mental. That's Haaland money.
The release clause is set very high to prevent any team getting him for a decent price. In all competitions, he has 17 G&A so far this season, and it`s his first season for them. He`s young and unexperienced, but he`s certainly got potential. Things kicked off pretty quickly for Joao Felix, he only had 6 good moths before he was off to Atletico. Same could happen to Nunez

Makes me laugh when people say we will sign the mediocre Darwin Nunez because of assists. Lol. Assists aren’t our problem...
Neither are goals really, a few games at the start of the season apart. When we sign a forward it will be somebody that has both parts to their game. Who I haven’t the faintest idea.

Would only cost us a cheap 150m or so.

A few months at the start of this season and the whole of last season in the majority of games that actually mattered (not 8-0 home wins vs shite). The real test is going to be the next 4-6 weeks, can we score enough goals consistently to win the big important games. So far in the league this season (United, Leicester, Liverpool, Spurs) the answer was no, let’s see if we can score enough to win the big games in February / March now that we are playing better.

We still 100% need a ruthless finisher. Pep played Aguero in virtually every big game in his first 3 seasons. Aguero doesn’t really have both parts to his game but Pep knows the value of having a 30+ goal a season forward imo.

Good shout that, could be worth it. Get Pep on the phone, good scouting pal
