New York City FC Thread (new away kit P245)

Re: NYCFC Hand Out Hymn Sheets

They should pay for some of our lads to go over and give them some proper chants.

Re: NYCFC Hand Out Hymn Sheets

Start spreading the news, come watch City play
I wanna be a part of it, New York, New York

Frank's vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it, New York, New York

I wanna wake up watching City and never sleep
And find we're king of the hill, top of the heap

These little town reds, are melting away
We've made a brand new start of it, in old New York

If we can make it there,
We'll make it anywhere,
It's up to us, New York, New York

These last few years I've been getting more and more sick of the lack of atmosphere at English games to the point where I'm slowly being pushed to believing that it's better to hear the crowd doing *anything* than hear them quietly munching their hotdog or biting their nails. Give it a couple more years and I'm not sure if I'll agree with you any more. Putting it simply, English fans have lost the ability to make a proper atmosphere, and I think we have to be serious and admit that we're never going to be able to fix that. Society has moved on. If we want serious atmosphere, people are going to have to adapt their viewpoints and accept the facets of continental support, and MLS support is closer to what you'd see in Germany or Italy than it is to England.

MLS support is nothing like German or Italian support.

In fact it is the absolute opposite of German or Italian support which is sort of the point.

And people aren't laughing at this because it's New York, people are laughing at it because a club that has existed for 9 games singing about history and trophies is cringeworthy shite.

Re: NYCFC Hand Out Hymn Sheets

I've found the atmosphere at NYCFC to be pretty authentic so far, it's been a pleasant surprise. Lots of noise, lots of excitement and for a young club plenty of passion. Particularly impressed that the current run of results doesnt seem to have affected that.

It's not like a European atmosphere but why should it be?

Just based on the TV so far but am looking forward to getting over there and experiencing it in person.

As for song sheets it's nothing unique or new. I remember them being handed around in my first game in 1993. Their songs and style will evolve over time, so not fussed too much with the content of this one.

Pretty sure too that it's the supporter groups that have come up with the songs, not the club.

Think at present the supporters groups are causing more problems for nycfc than solving .there seems to be a bit of dick waving going on between the groups at present

Who are these people who laugh ?? Seems like you know more about our NY "friends" than they do.But as I`ve said before, there`s not a subject that you know nothing about ... but complaining about this just about makes you even weirder than normal.

Funny thing was, even with having to hand out the song sheets to supporters, their atmosphere was 100x better against Seattle Sounders yesterday than ours at any game at the Etihad for years. They actually have the ability to sing a song for more than 5 seconds, which is something we (and many English clubs) are completely incapable of, and their noise didn't die down when they went behind, either.

As for the use of the word "crud" provoking some mick-taking, I'd suggest that that's because MLS has a rule where fans are kicked out of the stadium if caught swearing, so they can't be seen actively promoting swear words (I don't know how you guys would interpret the word, but it's not considered offensive in the US).

Didn't stop them from chanting FUCK SEATTLE

I also vividly recall the NE Revolution fans (my local team over here) loudly serenading the lovely Becksy-Wecksy not so long ago:

"Fuck you Beck-ham! Fuck you Beck-ham!"

Come to think of it, maybe this was when the ban was implemented...:)

I suppose having a few City fans as part of the Revs supporters maybe helped the "atmosphere" just a little...I don't know...

As for NYCFC, their fans make a bit of a racket. So far. We will see as the season goes on.
