New Zealand terrorist attack

I agree that our media cover things differently whether it's 'Islamic' terrorism or 'extreme right wing' terrorism.

I'd like to know if this difference is also on display (the other way round) in the media in predominantly Muslim countties.?

What people fail to understand the biggest victims of any type of terrorism has been Muslims, you hear the names of the organisation like isis, alqaeda etc but what isnt really highlighted is their biggest target are the muslims themselves because according to doctrines of these organisations every Muslim is a worthy target if he or she doesnt support their ideology.

Their is a preception that has been built as if Muslims in gernal have soft corner for these elements, fact is we dont, we hate them more than any one else could because we have suffered first hand.

So for me personally there is no difference between a so called muslim terrorist or a right wing one, because at the end of the day though both are killers and murderers.

Thats the gernal feeling in the media too, there is no differentiation in terms of the crime itself.

Not really seeing any bias either way regardless tbh.

The biggest difference i can see is that he is thought to be acting on his own and thus is a extremist nutter and accusations of white supremacy and far right ideology are being thrown at him, as opposed to this being a radicalised muslim.

One is part of an organised and large movement, the other being a bedroom terrorist.

He doesn't seem to be part of an illigal organisation.

This is the problem, when a Muslim is responsible, he is somehow representative of this large-scale ideology bent on killing all non Muslims but when the right winger does it we are told he is a lone acting wolf or angelic boy or working class man.

If these individuals who carry out such attacks in name of islam why their biggest victims are muslims? No one really bats an eye when we say they are not even eligible to be called muslims but somehow they are the representatives of muslims in gernal according to western media.

"TERRORISM HAS NO RELIGION". We can move forward when we accept this fact.

Regulation is miles behind the fact at the moment and it's being left to human impulse to regulate, that's never a good idea. The people with the lowest impulse regulation are frequently the most vulnerable to messaging on top. We've gone through this in the past various times and when authorities have caught up the problem has subsided, but the casualties have still been casualties. It's a shame we seen unable as a species to apply the lessons of the past onto new problems, these issues were all obvious but the political will wasn't there.

The problem with any censorship is who decides where the line is drawn? To say that watching stuff turns you into a murderer is shit. These people would always be violent. We have to accept that the tintermet wont be uninvented. If we think banning a couple of sites is going to make any of this go away, we are deluding ourselves.

Hatred is learned a lot in the home. People have been demobusing grouos before most could even write, never mind go online. It’s a human trait. In my country it takes the form of religious bigotry and that’s centuries old. I despair at social commentators thinking that there is a magic bullet disguised as regulation.

We will be getting to a point where any criticism of any group becomes illegal and that’s fucked. To me religions want a free run. Well, they don’t deserve one. Religious types cannot abide any attempt to point out how cancerous and divisive they are to some. They should never be legally immune from legitimate scorn. The problem with these counts is, when you attack the belief system they presume you are attacking them personally and react accordingly.

When the same types stop demonizing and persecuting atheists then I will listen to the bastards. Until that day, which will never arrive, saying their creeds are abhorrent in the 21st century will and should go on. The creeds mind, not the people. I was brought up with this shit and it causes a feeling of separation and mistrust of other religions. If my mother said we had the One True Faith, she said it a hundred times. That kind of shit fucks up young minds and us hard to displace. When that type of shite goes so will a lot of the hate.

The tinternet is not the cause.

.

Ah yes that old chestnut. A conclusion arrived at by people who usually don't understand what is going on. I don't know about you but I dread to think how I have turned out because in my lifetime its been punk, video nasties, arcade video games, on line betting, internet porn to name but a few things that presented such a danger to me and that others decided I needed to be protected from...... in my view those things turned out to be amongst the least threatening things in my life lol

If you don’t know who he is, presumably you’re posting his tweet because you think he might have a point?
Well do you?
You won’t get much of a response.
He read this nutcase’s manifesto on Friday and then started a thread on “Freedom of Movement” yesterday morning on the back of it, where he must’ve wanted to argue some of the things he’d read in the manifesto!
He’s desperately trying anything to take the conversation where he wants it to go, which includes posting random stupid tweets.
It’s bizarre - he’s almost agreeing that this nutter had some valid points, he doesn’t seem to realise that those types of “honest discussion points” are part of a wider argument that is being used to further radicalise these fucking idiots and have played a huge part in 49 people losing their lives. Unbelievable when you consider the gunman’s ancestors were immigrants to Australia and the poster himself is an Englishman living in Ireland.

The killer looks like one of those ‘I’m working out so I’m ready for when it all kicks off’ types.
Why do they keep blurring out his face?
What is he signalling with this hand gesture?

Apparently the judge ordered his face to be blurred.
