Newcastle (A) Post-Match Thread

Like a lot of people I was getting a little tired of the expense of semi finals at Wembley, but I'm gutted I can't be there to see the record put straight after the last time we met in this competition. Silva deliberately hacked out of the game and possibly the worst officiating ever witnessed at that stage of the FA Cup meant we were robbed of a place in the final. It's never nice to lose at Wembley but to lose out the way we did is something no team should suffer. No mention that Arsenal were drawn against last season's winners in the media so I doubt there will be any discussion about that fortunate Arsenal win last time we met.

The same mental strength we didn't have to win in Madrid?
He's probably thinking more about the mental strength, or lack of it, that saw us lose against a piss poor Norwich team, lose three times against the rags, throw away a two goal lead to lose at Wolves and fail to beat Newcastle in the Prem even though we were in front twice.

Was that the last time those entitled twats beat us?

nice one Blues, dealt nicely with a side determined to see 45 minutes out in the most negative way.....

decent enough from most, some nice interplay and was happy to see Sterling step up after another slightly underwhelming opening period from him.

have to admit, that Gayle miss was rather fortuitous.

Was as dominatin as u can be yesterday that, was a bit wastefull when it matterd, but hope we get to final an play the rags ,we owe them one big time an they need knockin down a peg an puttin in there place, its a killer gonna be no fans, will be a hard one to take that,im clingin on theres hope and maybe half capacity, slim chance i know ha

Foden is looking very good. I thought Jesus played very well too. Newcastle defended very well against him getting in some last minute blocks. The 2nd goal killed the game and what a goal it was.

Sterling was top drawer today. Jesus is looking bereft of confidence.

Sterling did very little again in the first half having only one shot.

He was better after half time & looked dangerous every time we attacked.

Jesus worked hard as usual, got in some good positions but just needs the ball to drop lucky once or twice.

Is it the same mental strength which produced this?

Or is it the same mental strength which sees us having already won the community shield, league cup and has us in the FA Cup semi final and 2-1 up vs Madrid in the CL?

Truth is, our record shows we’re one of the most mentally strong teams in the history of English football. The consistency is unparalleled.
