Newcastle (A) | Wed 27th Sept | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

We will be fine without rodri once Bernardo is back. A double pivot of kovacic and Bernardo is more than good enough.
I reckon Kovavic will be doing Rodri role whilst he's out. Nunes and Bernardo alongside him in midfield.

Rodri is a massive loss especially when we've John Stones out too possibly our two main men last season playing that midfield role.

Pep will find a way over the next two games to get results until Rodri returns, He's a genius.

I'm in the 'really wanted Phillips to work' club, but have to accept that his ship has sailed. He is too under confident/star struck and thinks its his job just to give it to someone else. Pay half his wages to go to someone outside the top six. He deserves a decent finish to his career.

'I leave comfortable with how we played'

Manchester City
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to Sky Sports: "We played an incredible game. They increased after the break and were more aggressive. They scored a goal. Last season we were out against Southampton and not there but tonight we were. Congratulations to Newcastle.
"They start to be more aggressive. Yeah, it was a tight game and the players who played played really good. It is football. The way we played in the first half and second half was amazing. But they played aggressive to win the game.
"I leave comfortable with how we played, no injuries and minutes for Mateo [Kovacic] and Jack [Grealish]."
On Kalvin Phillips: "Very good. It was really, really good. We will see. Go home and rest and we see [for next few games]."
On Oscar Bobb: "Brilliant performance. It was perfect."

What’s the point in Newcastle getting to any final? Especially against The Rags. The Geordie Nation will descend on Wembley getting all giddy and they won’t come out of their own half again.

Obviously would have liked a win, can't deny that, but the bigger picture is that we're past the stage of needing to win the league Cup. We can't win everything but we can put everything into the big ones.
I'm looking forward to the club world cup.
Newcastle can have their giant killing. They've started to go a bit culty like Arsenal.

Strange to think in 2010 Manchester City would have given anything to win the League Cup so we could rip that fucking ticking banner at OT once and for all
