Newcastle, eh?

When he looked at newcastle and there attendances just before Keegan became manager for the 1st time he thought fuck em they couldn't be bothered turning up when in the lower leagues so why should I bother buying the club with these fair weather fans ;)

Whats left off that anecdote is that soon after saying i should have bought Newcastle, one of Sheikh Monsour's (he's half french you know) advisers whispered in his ear, remember Garry Cook's powerpoint presentation your highness, and Monsour sat back and nodded with a broad smile on his face.

Its a well known fact that Garry Cook's ppt blew Newcastle (and Everton) out of the water.

ive heard they are gonna raze the training ground, and stadium, and buy Newcastle instead,

Is it me or do Newcastle fans really fucking rate themselves.
I've never read so much shit in my life when it comes to these fickle fans.

They are a true urban myth, and still can't get my head round them singing " where were you when you were shit song " at us.

Bizarre bunch of fans.

Ar'nt Rangers having a bit of trouble with Banks ???
tbf so did we a few years back. One of them kept leaving the Kippax.

Proper old school City joke ;-)

Commit no nuisance, GDM.

When did Mr Banks actually start. I am pretty sure I remember it circa 1997 when my s/t was in AA lower.

Also was Mr Banks pre/post seagull?

I Found this story posted today on a NYCFC forum...

Not saying it's true, but make of it what you will....

I was in Manhattan Saturday night at a birthday party for a friend of ours. One of the girls brought her new boyfriend, a Banker.

Turns out the guy is British and we get talking soccer. He finds out I am an NYCFC guy and he brings up Sheikh Monsour.

Turns out he was the Sheikh's banker in England and became friendly with the Man City folks. He was invited to watch the France/England Euro 2012 game with a group of Man City folks, the Sheikh included.

So he sits down and starts watching and the Sheikh starts asking him who he supports and why. The guy says he is a Newcastle supporter. The room stops and everyone looks quizzically at him. The Sheikh prods him and wonders why, with all the clubs in England to support, he chose Newcastle (this guy was originally from Belfast and a Rangers supporter as well). He said that Newcastle was the one club in the Premier League, more than any other, where the team symbolizes the blue collar nature of the town. Good or bad, St. James is full every weekend. They live and die for their squad, and despite Sunderland being a rival, Newcastle is all for Newcastle United. The fans would jump through fire for their team.

So the Sheihk looks around and goes, "We should have bought Newcastle."

He didn't say that because he thinks they made a mistake. The moral of the story is that CFG is 100% invested in their fans. They want the best fans and they want their fans to be proud of the product on the field.

I couldn't be happier to be part of the CFG.

I heard rumours years ago when ADUG first bought City that they were looking at Newcastle and also Everton, but this was just rumour.

Your compulsion getting the better of you mate?

Beat me to it - and in a one team town too. One of THE biggest myths in football.

I love how "the room stops and everybody looks quizically at him"... in the wake of his astonishing revelation that he supports Newcastle.

Considering how Yanks continue to wet their panties at the mere mention of any connection to royalty, your man's new girlfriend probably had her knickers on her head before he'd even made up the punchline. So hey, good luck to the lad. All's fair in love and war..
