A 1-0 win with Kompany injured early and no Silva over busy Christmas period against a team set up to not concede and then really fighting at the end, due to being near the bottom, is a great win. Showed resiliance. We missed ferny in the middle of the park. I think Pep got it right though as Gabby was a threat that allowed Aguero more space. We created plenty and conceded few chances. Cannot be unhappy with that in an away game.
I was saying to my cousin a few weeks ago, before the derby, that City were miles ahead of the rags simply based on chances conceded. De Gea is always near the top of the saves made chart. That is telling because it shows he has to make a hell of a lot of them. In recent weeks we are seeing that he cannot save everything and the rags have been punished. The gap is now about what it should be in terms of the gulf in sides.
The main surprise for me is that they are still second because Chelsea should be closer, and Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool should be above them.
