all good, it’s clear to see that Howe is doing well with the players, getting the result, getting the fans onside.

but what about everything else, any progress on, or work definitely going ahead for:
the stadium? - improved in anyway at all?
the training ground? - facilities?
around the ground? - does the club own the space to expand?
the academy? - facilities and results?
womens team? - I see they are currently top of their division

I know it’s early days, and from memory, one of the 1st things done at city was a spend on the shabby carrington training facilities - to tide over whilst the current next to stadium areas were planned, designed and built - im just curious as to what’s in the pipeline.

Eddie has been the perfect fit for us and he really deserves every bit of praise that he’s receiving. This is an idea of how good a job he’s done

We don’t know what is going on with the stadium other than that we are talking to the city council, a couple of directors have said that they don’t want to move away from St James’ Park but that could change. I guess we could move away from St James’ for a season or two and knock down what we have and start again to make better use of the land around the ground, 52,000 is far too small now. The club put 1,000 season tickets up for sale in the summer and 30,000 were trying to get a hold of them, that was during a week day when most people would have been at work. I can only guess that works toilets were very busy that day.

We don’t actually own the land that the ground is built on, it belongs to the council which could tie us in as we couldn’t sell the land to help with a new build. The ground as it is now has been improved, the concourses have been re-decorated, broken TV’s have been replaced, dead pigeons removed, windows cleaned and a new room has been built which we use at half time instead of the dressing room. We had spare land around the ground which the club had purchased before Ashley arrived, the whole idea was to allow for further expansion but Ashley sold the land and pocketed the money, it was never put back into the club.

Our current training ground is having a massive upgrade to get us by while we look for a new purpose build facility which will bring all of our teams together. We actually have had builders in since the summer and that work is expected to complete some time into the New Year.

The new facilities, which we don’t know the location of yet, will include sleeping quarters for players as well as all of the other good stuff that we’ll need. I guess they could build a ground where the kids and girls can play in front of paying customers and then they wouldn’t have to pay to share facilities that are owned by others.

Bruno Guimaraes was a fucking amazing signing that came from left field. As I said, you'll need to get creative.

I would love us to try and hijack Tielemans if he's looking to move to Arsenal in the winter transfer window. He could play behind Joelinton and Bruno and allow Willock more time to develop and would allow us to freshen the midfield without a massive drop off in quality.

Longstaff is starting a lot of games and I don’t see what all of the hype is with him. He does cover a lot of ground but he’s the weak link in midfield as he rarely tackles and his passing can be very poor, he also hasn’t got enough pace. You’ll often see him chase a player and fall further back with each stride and then he’ll give up. Don’t get me wrong, he can be of use at times and can contribute to the team, it’s just that don’t think he does enough.

One problem we would have is with Shelvey triggering an automatic contract extension. Shelvey has his uses and he's much better under Howe than Bruce but he's too erratic, he blows hot and cold far too often.

We’ll also have to get rid of some players to create space in the squad as we still have too much deadwood. We have Hayden on loan at Norwich, he has something in the loan deal which forces them to buy him if he triggers an unknown clause.

We have Emile Krafth who is not in the squad as he is still injured and may or may not be back for the second half of the season.

We also have Jeff Hendrick who is on loan at Reading, he has one year left on his contract after this and he's garbage.

We are playing a few players who I don’t rate as much as some people do. I have mentioned Longstaff and given my reasons for wanting to replace him.

Another is Dan Burn who is solid but lacks pace, can’t direct a header and has the turning circle of a battleship. He was probably responsible for us letting in a goal against Southampton, I will have to watch the game again as I’ve only seen the goal against once but my memory of it was him sliding in and getting nowhere near the ball. He also likes to hold opposition players a lot and I hate that as it could easily end up as a penalty against us.

Carry on like this and the FA will be sniffing around Howe after the world cup.

I honestly don't think Eddie will be interested at this stage in his career. He loves the day-to-day involvement working with the players and he wouldn't get that with England.

He's massively improved so many of our players and that's a huge strength which would be wasted if he became the England manager and limited to working with players for a few days at a time.

He hasn’t won a trophy in his career, either as a player or a manager and I think he would really struggle to give up that chance, unless he felt that he could win something with England.

We think he now has a 6 year contract and I personally think it will be towards the end of that before he would consider England although I could be totally wrong on that guess.

His family seem settled in the North East, his wife could become home sick and that could put pressure on him to return South, there is nothing to suggest that is the case, you never know and we could find out if he was ever offered the job.

Would the FA want to buy out a 6 year contract?

Maybe not.

But Newcastle might see it as an opportunity to employ a world class coach instead? Wave the compo as there might be a couple free after the World Cup. And I don't mean Southgate as a replacement.

:D

Whatever happens I hope you get in top 4 to keep piss boiling in the press.

I reckon they should be all over Maddison, Barnes and Tielemans from Leicester. I think all three would move as well

As said above by Mick. Shelvey, Longstaff, Hayden and Hendrick are not good enough for where the Geordies want to go.

I think Burn is not a bad player. Has his uses but is not a left back. Much better at centre half but definitely a player who would stay around even as a squad player and not grumble so a good option to have.

I might do a long post during the World Cup when things are quiet to go over our journey from Ashley to PIF/PCP/RB Sports if anybody is interested. I would imagine our journey will be quite similar to your own journey.

The owners have put in an extra £70.4 million this morning, this is on top of £40 million they put in during the second half of last season. No real detail is given as to how the money will be spent, the training facility upgrade will take some of it, maybe they're looking to buy some land for future projects.

Additional capital to further finance investment in infrastructure and day-to-day operations

The ownership group, comprising PIF, PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, has invested a further £70.4 million of equity into Newcastle United FC. This investment brings the ownership group’s investment to date to over £450 million.

The capital injection follows a wide range of investments in the club that has seen an upgrade of training facilities, improvements to St. James’ Park and recruitment of a number of senior executives to build out the commercial operations of the club, as well as investment in the playing squad.

Further investment is expected which reflects the ownership group’s long-term commitments for Newcastle United.
Darren Eales, CEO of Newcastle United, said: "We are at the beginning of a long-term plan that aims to build a club that can compete consistently at the highest levels of English and European football.

"We need to develop the whole business, as well as the playing squad. And we need to do so while adhering to the Financial Fair Play rules. This additional investment further enables us to continue implementing the business plan."

Maybe not.

That could possibly happen, I expect that Howe is held in high regard within the club and was actually the first choice for PIF who are the largest share holders by far but they were out-numbered by PCP and RB Sport when it was put to the vote between Emery and Howe who were the only two options.

No doubt he's doing a good job for you.

The press snobbery about players not wanting to go there have never had a night out in Newcastle.

:)
