It was Eddie Howe who moved Joelinton after we'd gone down to 10 men against Norwich when Ciaran Clark was sent off after 9 minutes. Joelinton was unbelievable for the rest of that game, I think we realised what we had on our hands when he was an absolute monster against Man U at home.

I'd always argued with my sons and mates that he could become a much better player if we moved him deeper so he could play more with the ball in front of him. He was getting dogs abuse from some of our fans (mainly online which he would not have seen) but he never tried to hide when lesser players would have, he just put his head down and got on with it. He's not the most skilful player, what he does have is a fantastic engine, a footballers brain and the bottle to leave everything he has on the pitch once the game is over and he just doesn’t know how or when to give up.

I don’t care who we bring in over the next few years, I would always find a place for a player like Joelinton because he’s a destroyer and does the dirty work to allow others to do the fancy work.

I`d be very happy to see us both in the top 2 places.

Obviously with us top, Keep it Northern 8-)

I agree I always felt for him as he struggled. He's one of those players fans love, gives 100%, never complains but nothing seems to go right for him. He seems a genuine nice guy and I'm pleased he's now having some success. Jack's comments were cruel and uncalled for, particularly as he'd just won the league with us. I'm sure he regrets it now and hopefully he's learned a hard lesson.

Miggy has commented today about what Grealish said about him and he doesn't care. He was just happy that the fans stuck up for him.

From his interview:

"All that incident did really was highlight that when that type of thing happens here it shows the greatness of the Newcastle supporters.

"I actually did not pay too much attention to the comments at first I will be honest because I prefer to just get on with my job and do my work in silence. I just get on with my work and the only thing that matters to me is to improve myself.

"When you achieve things in life it only comes through hard work and sacrifice anyway, especially in football, it's never through words. At the time when the stuff all came up, I was then filled with happiness and pride with the way the Newcastle supporters rallied around me.

"They showed their support at that point and it was really important."

Stupid oil club. Get oil clubs out of football right now. I have recently, like in April 2022, come to the realisation that oil clubs are ruining football. Disgrace to football.

A lot of our fans felt that way until recently, it's amazing how easy people can change their opinions when it suits them, that comment isn't aimed at you.

Yeah I'm just kidding of course, but I do actually remember lurking on some Newcastle message boards over the years when we played them and they were all like 'stupid oil club, their success is meaningless and hollow yada yada'. Slightly different tone over there these days :)

I knew you weren't being serious, I was always jealous of both Chelsea and Man City but never begrudged either club of winning the lottery, I just wished it had been us and I now have my wish. I don't know how you felt reading what you did, I enjoy seeing it about us.

It looks as though you are on the right track. Have patience now, and success will come. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed ours.

I've waited since 1969 to see us win something so I can't wait for as long as it takes. We got close a few times under Keegan and Sir Bobby, we always seemed to fall just too short. What we're currently doing feels like success and I didn't think we'd ever be in this position again once Ashley started being a prick.

I was very young when our takeover happened, a teenager, so it used to annoy when people said that stuff about Chelsea. Obviously the older you get, the less this stuff matters and you can just focus on enjoying watching your team be good.

I'm noticing the same hypocrisy that I saw in Newcastle fans now in Liverpool fans who are all gagging for some stupidly rich sheikh to buy their club, the same fanbase that have probably been the most vocal about Chelsea/City's money. It's hilarious :)
