Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Never a pen. But we were also too harmless again. Need to improve. Foden looked promising.

It's a post match thread where the game is being discussed. A decent point considering how we performed. Some will be happy and some won't.
Look, I’ve complained about this for years and seen us go on and win trophies. It was appalling and over the top in at times in the season we won the treble.

Today wasn’t a great game for us but it was against an opponent with a plan to stifle us, to get a 5-4-1 quickly in place when we had the ball past halfway and to use their physicality and pace to put us under pressure when we were trying to play out. They had players who could do that but there was still and obvious gap in quality.

People can complain about city’s purchases and age of players. Also we do not have the levels of physicality and pace of some opponents but then it’s not our players going down with cramp because of how hard our opponent has worked us. We have fantastic quality and we saw some of it today but not quite enough. The season is long and there will be ups and downs but we can get everyone fit and firing, apart form Rodders, and if we do (as we have done many times before) we’ll be in the mix. 5-in-a-row was always a huge ask and City may not do it but it’s still a possibility.

No. Newcastle were as shite as we were today. Poor game all round really.
I don't think either team was shite. I don't think either team was particularly good. We were bang average. Newcastle were bang average. Pretty fair result. A late goal from us would have been a deep dig and Bernardo placing his shot slightly differently would have been one of the moments of the season but pffft. Early days the season has barely started. A point away to Newcastle is not bad result at all.

The Boys in Blue didn’t give in they fought to the end. Thank you City, thank you lads, thank you fans. You showed ‘em, you showed ‘em all.

Especially those bar codes who had to decide to dive to get a penalty that was definitely not a penalty but if that is the only way you can do it then carry on being the silly black and white shirted fools.

Especially the know nowt so called media who at least were brave enough to admit that it shouldn’t have been a penalty. Well some of them were anyway. But the codswallop that they come out with at times is mystifying.

Especially the Specsavers needing, whistle blowing fools who allegedly know all the rules. Huh you shitake mushrooms we should have won that fair and square but oh no you throttlebottom whooperoops couldn’t allow that to happen could you. No your lord and masters the red top brigade would have your guts for garters if you did that!! When, oh when will you learn. We might get a draw but we won’t be beaten by you yellow bellies. You forget who we are. We are (ear plug time @jimharri)

MANCHESTER CITY THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.

And for those who think that this is because Rodri wasn't able to play forget it, that is just superstition and you know I have nothing whatsoever to do with superstition. I don't do these posts because I am superstitious that things will go wrong if I didn't...... ok I do I am superstitious but that is nothing to do with Rodders ok? :-)

I shan't even mention the fact that there was another player missing today. I just can't bring myself to mention that there was another player missing today.*lol*
Liked it for the actual message, but even more because of the word ‘shan’t’, which reminds me of my Nanna.

I can’t believe how that penalty DIVE has just been glossed over. Shit like that seems to be accepted without much issue.
It’s because we are far too weak calling out decisions like this. That happens v Arsenal or Dippers and it would be news for over a week as they would rightly slaughter Var, us nope, bend over, accept it

They don't drop many points at SJP so a point is a good result. Not a good game, same as most early kick offs. Can't win em all. Although some entitled mardarses in here think we should win every game

Re. the pen. Haven't seen it , and I don't trust Bluemoon assessments of penalties against us, by and large (except my own!) — but the guy on the OS is going on and on about it, and seems genuinely outraged. According to him, VAR flagrantly did not do its job. Comments?
Sounds like we should have won, especially with chances at the end. Who needs Rodri? I'll take the point.
He's correct, the explanation was that var didn't see enough evidence to overturn the refs decision, how many camera angles do they want. Rodri elbowed in the face last week and they apparently didn't have a camera angle to pick up that incident in the centre of the field, so what is the point of var if they are not going to correct something that is blatantly unjust.
