To understand the shit we get and the tsunami of turds heading down the Tyne it's important to understand where it's coming from.

Politics in this country has two wings, right and soft right, capitalism is the only form of economic system permissible and Western values are universal human rights. Countries are judged along a sliding scale of how like us they are. These beliefs are not a point of contention between Starmer and Johnson, or the Guardian and the Daily Telegraph.

In this reality the only way to temper the excesses of capitalism or human rights abuses, be it at Facebook or Saudi Arabia and its Public Investment Fund, is to exert pressure for change not as workers (that smacks of evil socialism) but as consumers.

At state to state level this can lead to economic sanctions, or with big businesses heavy fines. The man and woman on the street is expected as a consumer to respond, by taking their custom elsewhere and condemnation and much tut tutting follows if they don't.

Seems the soft right have taken a leaf out of a tatty copy of the old left's playbook, it might look different, what with the internet and 24/7 TV, but the similarities are there for all to see.

Older Bluemooners will remember this....

And that is why the Geordies must be shamed for their continued support for Newcastle United
That’s some rod you’ve got there.

After this 3rd place player of Newcastle would straight on the blower to Mancini tell him you have billion to spend in the next 3 years do you want the job?!

And so it begins.

This is going to test the mettle of those hardy Geordies, the abuse aimed at their club from the red media is going to be quite simply epic.

Oh yes and the Geordies are ill prepared for it. The Toon army might take this as an insult, it's not, because all football fans are a bit naive, but from what I've seen and heard they're a bit less street savvy than Mancunians and they're accustomed in their one team town to being seen as salt of the earth, hard done by, downtrodden but plucky and loyal.

Well that ends now.

Their next game will get people watching them wanting them to get beat, the plucky underdog tag cast to one side and now effectively they are the enemy.

My Son In Law has already told me he's sick of it all and he's only a week in to this buy out, you're right they may not take it as well as we did and may not ride the storm with the same amount of panache.

I think your first paragraph is almost certainly spot on but your second is vitally important. I'm sure the cartel are panic stricken at the mere thought of this takeover and having nightmares at the admiration of City in Ms Staveley's statements. They may well be forced to realise that the law in the United Kingdom does give protection to those trying to compete and doesn't see things through the protectionist eyes of US capitalism. I am really eager to hear the ruling we are promised in January because it may end this nonsense about City being a "state owned club" once and for all by making a clear distinction between ownership and control. Sheikh Mansour may be deputy PM of UAE but to say that the government of the UAE or Abu Dhabi controls City is the same as arguing that McMillans publishers were run by the UK government when Harold was PM in the late 1950s. I suspect that PL has been found to be acting in an anti-competitive manner - but what the detail is may be very interesting. What is it that scared PL so much that they caved in without even warning the cartel?!
And, remember, Mansour is not a member of the government (which is the Exec Council) despite his title. He is more a very senior civil servant. Keep it quiet, though, as Khaldoon is a member of the Council.(Abu Dhabi).
