Newcastle United Thread - 2021/22

I just found it hard to believe someone, even on here, has such ridiculous paranoid delusions.

But then why would someone say something as nonsensical as "US backed" to refer to a private company and act as if all American's are in alignment over anything, let alone football?
You believe that they are not there to make money?

Having listened to what I would assume is their flagship football podcast on the matter which was released today, the unanimity of view expressed on this issue across all the journalists makes me highly cynical about their line - virtually no attempt at balance or perspective. The likes of Oliver Kay and Adam Crafton who iirc are from red club backgrounds and who have the gall to patronisingly call out City fans for being biased and parochial when our club was involved in a takeover. They also made the point that ‘well you have to draw the line somewhere, and that line should be football’ when addressing the point about all the other links UK and US has with Saudi and other Middle Eastern states. And to answer you directly, yes I do absolutely believe it is very convenient for the athletic to take this line so wholeheartedly. I’m not suggesting there might not be an outlier amongst them - I’d guess their NUFC correspondent might be one - but I’m suggesting both the ownership of the athletic and the influence of the red leaning journalists does matter on this.

‘Ridiculous paranoid delusions’ - a bit ott that tbh. I think the hyperbole is coming from you on this.

The idea that the Athletic is doing the bidding of United and Liverpool because they're American is a paranoid delusion.

Quite. By US backed I meant it is an American company which has branched out into the English football market - not that it is backed by the US government, which is perhaps how one poster has chosen to interpret it.
And agreed they are looking to make money - their main customers are the US backed (ie US owned) red teams. As such it surprises me not one jot that they seem to be almost wholly critical of what has happened at Newcastle.

Thanks for replying, but if we think each other are deluded it’s a bit pointless carrying on with this exchange. Sleep well.

Because the digital algorithms detect any unusual activity, type of customer, frequency of bets, arbitrage patterns, etc. Anything like that is flagged.

You are going back to a time when the most sophisticated technology available to bookmakers was a telephone.

Don’t worry though, there’s a lot of people who share your views, mostly not a clue about multi million pound hi tech betting companies, you’re in good company.
Mate, I haven't got a clue about MOST things, but I've got a very active imagination :) :)

...and, I still reckon my theory isn't just a theory :)

Most important is to get rid of Bruce and start getting some type of tactical ideas into place and get a manager playing to that "philosophy", which will be very rocky at first and also can go very bad at least until first transfer window as this current squad is not much better than what Bruce was able to get out of it, meaning staying just above relegation one.

will be interesting to see the type of players they start their investment in transfer market.

most likely is that they can only choose from top clubs bench/deadwood players and while those will be big upgrades still those are not the ind of players taking them to top4.

but I would like to see a manager like Conte given a chance.

I do hope they wont give inflated prices to our rivals for their deadwood. but its likely they will.

and FFP is still there, even if its dying and some other type of bullshit is about to be brought in by Uefa with luxury tax and other jokes.

i wonder what they make up to make the elite a closed shop as we have an official CL format change coming in from 2024 after they beat off the ESL idea for now at least.

Can totally see United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs going back to ESL idea if this Newcastle project really takes off quicker than it would be expected and they start to threaten the place of red fucks.
The most important thing at this moment is to stay in the division.

I could see them taking a stop gap manager to ensure they do stay up.

Then next summer the work starts properly with a top class manager/Director of football in place.
