Newcastle United Thread - 2021/22

Living up here near Newcastle, the buzz is amazing. They are getting well giddy and my usual easy supply of free match tickets has dried up. But the all of a sudden experts on Middle East geo influences and FFP etc is really funny. All the stuff I have being banging on about for 12 years and the fkrs ignored or even challenged. True Geordie was far more up the United/Liverpool back side than your average Newcastle supporter though.

Because the digital algorithms detect any unusual activity, type of customer, frequency of bets, arbitrage patterns, etc. Anything like that is flagged.

You are going back to a time when the most sophisticated technology available to bookmakers was a telephone.

Don’t worry though, there’s a lot of people who share your views, mostly not a clue about multi million pound hi tech betting companies, you’re in good company.
Only those regulated though. You wouldn't get away with a dodgy bet through Ladbrokes or William Hill of course. Far more money goes through unregulated entities.

Having listened to what I would assume is their flagship football podcast on the matter which was released today, the unanimity of view expressed on this issue across all the journalists makes me highly cynical about their line - virtually no attempt at balance or perspective. The likes of Oliver Kay and Adam Crafton who iirc are from red club backgrounds and who have the gall to patronisingly call out City fans for being biased and parochial when our club was involved in a takeover. They also made the point that ‘well you have to draw the line somewhere, and that line should be football’ when addressing the point about all the other links UK and US has with Saudi and other Middle Eastern states. And to answer you directly, yes I do absolutely believe it is very convenient for the athletic to take this line so wholeheartedly. I’m not suggesting there might not be an outlier amongst them - I’d guess their NUFC correspondent might be one - but I’m suggesting both the ownership of the athletic and the influence of the red leaning journalists does matter on this.

‘Ridiculous paranoid delusions’ - a bit ott that tbh. I think the hyperbole is coming from you on this.
You were only called ridiculous and delusional, I got called a moron.

I just found it hard to believe someone, even on here, has such ridiculous paranoid delusions.

But then why would someone say something as nonsensical as "US backed" to refer to a private company and act as if all American's are in alignment over anything, let alone football?
It’d be as ridiculous as an American coming on here claiming companies don’t have vested interests.

Reckon today's the day for 'ald Elephant Head.

Heard an interesting rumour for them yesterday - Tarkowski. Always thought he could step up to a Leicester/Spurs maybe. If Newcastle are entering the first level of their journey, he's a good signing for me.

Surely they're not doing the player/manager route with all their money? ;)
