who ever the new manager is and thats a difficut one as they'll be negotiating severance pay before they start he job as will know it'll be a short term appointment then has to use fat sam tactics roll over for big games because points to be won against bottom half clubs

I’m sure I recall seeing a documentary about Newcastle United back when Sir John Hall owned the club. I remember the intimation being that the North East mafia were endemic in the club which was a real problem. It brought to mind Ali Fraser from series 2 of Auf Wiedershen Pet. Wonder if Ashley sorted that or is it on Staveley’s to do list.
I'm sure the new owners will have ways to deal with "dissidents" such as that.

Unregulated markets are becoming less frequent but obviously still exist. The fact is they still wouldn’t pay out on what is construed a dodgy bet and there’s no recourse to challenge the decision. Furthermore the only examples of influence from Far East betting was a rumble of spot betting on Premier League games a few years ago. It was on the first throw in and I believe no money was paid out.

There’s no incentive for players, and I’ll just quote Premier League players here, to be dishonest, it’s just not worth what would be small money to them, the consequences would be a total ban from football.

If there was any evidence of corruption in the English game it would be widely known. It’s absolute bollocks the Premiership can be influenced by betting, complete nonsense.
For what it’s worth I was sat outside a Dutch bar in Koh samui Thailand a year before covid and there was a betting shop next door. You wouldn’t know it was because there was no name on it and the windows were opaque. Got talking to the bar owner Leo and told me it was purely there for football betting and the amount of footfall going in and out was very popular. Now not saying their betting rules are different to ours but looks a bit dodgy all the same.

Gambling is illegal in Thailand so you can imagine the sort of people running the syndicates of which that betting shop was a part, and how much money they will take in if something unexpected happens. Not the sort of people to complain to if you do lose money to a shaky outcome either, or you are gambling with more than your money.

I can get a bet on with an unregulated bookmaker at the Club I go in. It goes on all over the world, however there’s no influencing the Premier League which is what the OP was alleging.

What's with the media trying to push Lampard into every open job in the PL?
Need a member of the Redknapp family in there to keep the legacy going...I wonder if he has a dog with a knowledge of tax law as well?

A window of Sam Johnstone, Tarkowski, Lingard, Raul Jimenez would be a decent start.

Couple of Geordie friends seem to think that's going to be their starting point.
