Its going to be 3 from the current bottom 4 and Burnley will be one of those 3 (no great loss). Watford and Norwich are classic relegation fodder, I dont see their form changing so its there for Newcastle to pull away if they make some good signings. I think i want them to stay up. It keeps the heat of us from an FFP perspective.

Everton are 5th from bottom and they always dodge the drop, Lampard should give them a bit of a lift. Leeds, Brentford and Palace have all been good at times so they should all be fine.

Gonna be interesting, hope Norwich survive it if I'm being honest, fuck the FFP thoughts

Is that him counting how many millions he his getting,no wonder he is smiling.pity it will turn into a bit of a nightmare when he's playing in Barnsley and yes I'll say it Stoke on a winter midweek match......
you being sarky and I haven't clocked it?
They said the same about Ya Ya

I've no real interest. I think Newcastle scare the shit out of the old guard and I like that. Give it 10 years and no doubt they will be in the top 6 whatever happens this year, that means someone gets pushed out...

As for the rest, I do like Norwich over Burnley and Watford but not by any great distance. Its been years since I have really got invested in a relegation scrap. Leeds going down was the most fun.

I've no real interest to be fair, well not until we have title sewn up,but Sky will absolutely love this if it goes to the wire, which it will.

They've all to play each other which is good as well

Get rid of Burnley, and there’d be at least 38 less injuries in the premier league!

They won’t get every player tho. And people forget it’s WC year. Most teams don’t want to sell - if there is a chance that one if their players are going to dominate. Trippier, Guimaires and Wood are good transfers for the start. Thought Gosens would join too but Inter hijacked I guess.

They might actually stay up with what they've done if they keep ASM fit and get Wilson back fit. The signings they've made are all decent solid acquisitions and that's what they needed to have a chance, if they get Burn done, that's 3 of the back 4 and a quality holding midfielder. I don't know why they didn't go all in for Ramsey on loan though, his goalscoring from midfield could have helped them massively and they can afford his wages.

They've given themselves a much better chance this window and their rivals haven't done much, I reckon they'll manage to stay up now.

If all the points were wiped clean right now, and the season started again next Sat, would you say Newcastle's squad is the 17th best, or higher?

Wouldnt say their business was brilliant. The Lyon fella looks very good but no guarantee he will adapt straight away. Plus if they throw Targett and Burn in straight away with Tripper thats 3 defenders who are new which could be tricky. I also think they really needed a new striker due to Wilson being out for a while

They've replaced half their team in Jan, always a risk. All depends on how quickly they gel, and how good Howe is at using them.

It could still all go downhill.

Yep Howe isnt really known for being defensive minded and if he throws 3 new players together in the back 4 they may struggle. Key for them staying up is keeping ASM fit

i think they've done OK. Targett has always impressed me. Very committed player. I watched Guimares once play for Lyon v PSG and he was quality. Mind you that's a very different league to the Premier League. I can see them staying up now. I can make a case for every club staying up. No one is doomed. I even think Brentford might go down if they go on a bad run, and they could easily because I don't know how they wing games. They look very limited to me.

I quite like Howe as a coach. I think he did a good job at Bournemouth.

Bit of a shite window for toon fans if you're being honest, no major signing to get the fans giddy.

The Brazilian is a good signing. From what I have seen he could play for any top European club. However it could take him months to settle. Ndombele came from Lyon and never settled at Spurs.

Newcastle only have to improve a little to survive and getting in some defenders is a bit boring but a good idea. if Saint maximin stays fit, they will score goals. Up until now they keep conceding. Whether their defensive signings are good enough is difficult to say. I think their full backs are OK but not sure at centre back. IMO they have enought to stay up.

They have but they were always going to have to do that to stand a chance, their defensive unit was championship standard if we're being generous. Their signings aren't eye catching but they're solid pros that know the league well, they've limited the risk of them taking time to gel by buying known quantities.

I can't agree with people suggesting it was a poor window for them because they didn't sign a big name, that was never likely to happen and was never going to keep them up. They've had a good window and given themselves every chance of staying up.
