And all the other countries that we choose to ignore, Burma (Myanmar) is just one of many where we choose to put our fingers in our ears and go la hlah lay.
Of course a Burmese businessman is not threatening the Rag, dipper domination of the money pot.
I would feel more comfortable with our view of the Saudi regime if we refuse to sell arms to them. We are such fucking hypocrites

I'd happily have absolutely nothing to do with them. But you're saying that like they're a country that keeps themselves to themselves, rather than using their vast fortune to spread their intolerant bigotry throughout the world under the guise of religious and educational institutions. They certainly have no problems telling non-Saudi Muslims how they ought to behave. They certainly aren't moral relativists and wouldn't defend themselves on those grounds.

But having said that, it's amazing the number of people who have suddenly come to this realisation since their team's position at the top of the table is under threat.
The Saudi regime isn't the best and you mention intolerant bigotry. Facebook, YouTube, in fact the majority of social media is a cess pit of hatred, racial, sexual, right and left wing the lot. It allows child porn to remain uploaded, the police in all countries are powerless to act against the companies and cannot remove content themselves.
They have to hope the host eventually takes it down.
They are all American owned and have made their founders very very wealthy. Nobody seems to mind that and if they do, tough because you can't do anything about it. The white, decomocratic west at its best, ignoring all our issues whilst telling everyone else how to behave

Agree.
The might of the state will always win when there is big £££ involved and a strong relationship with other governments

Saudis will be far more aggressive than us but we've done well in no small part with our strategy of sharing deals Abu Dhabi are all over directly or indirectly:

China
NYC FC
Nissan
Nexen
Silver Lake
etc etc

Effective state ownership in our case has had big benefits.

True that we have people on our board who are high up in AD and have used their connections to access sources of funds. Not sure that equates to state ownership, even effective. But your main point that we have been using their connections stands. Good business.

By the way, this whole notion that Saudi Arabia is "sportswashing" with Newcastle is bizarre. They lured a journalist to an Embassy, murdered him and disposed of the body almost in full sight of the world and then told the rest of the world to fuck off. I doubt they have too many concerns about their image.

Not really. The British government have no problem with Saudi Arabia, neither does the yank, French Spanish or any other government.
If they hadn't bought the magpies I doubt anyone else would either.

Aye, because nobody is constantly criticising America or social media companies. This is just deflection. You can't criticise something that is prominent at the moment unless you have also criticised every other bad thing that's happening in the world, and only then if you happen to come from a country that has never done anything bad.

Obviously a large amount of the current criticism of Newcastle is based entirely on bullshit self-interest, fear of competition, and plain jealousy, but let's not pretend that we can't legitimately criticise the individual in charge of the organisation that has taken them over.

If Tony Blair or George Bush bought a football club, you could be sure that the next game there would be banners calling them war criminals and terrorists, and no-one would claim it's racist or say that people didn't have the right to do it.

We aren’t state-owned.

Manchester City is (or was at the point of purchase in 2008) owned solely by HRH Sheikh Mansour, an individual, who is a member of Abu Dhabi royal family.

The club has since received investment from outside interests, and is now part of CFG.

We are not, and never have been, state owned.

Remember those Palace twats having a banner about us a few years back. Along the lines of they have SOUL and we don't. Silly cunts.

Just to stir the pot, Saudi human rights not allowing gay rights in their own country, who are we to tell them right from wrong. I'm all for equal rights in our country but should we get involved in other countries beliefs. It went well in Afghanistan and Iraq being the world police didn't it?
It's not actually illegal to be gay on Saudi Arabia but obviously it's frowned on from a religious perspective. As you say, that's their business.

But it was illegal in the UK less than 60 years ago.

And was the basic cause behind the death of one of our greatest scientists, Alan Turing.
And whilst it has been legal for 50 odd years ago we were still beating people up for being 'queer' 20 years ago.
And (finally) if being gay is so acceptable in our society, name a prem footballer who has come out.
