Conte would make most sense. If he wants full control, let him have full control for three years, while you build a longer term setup in the background for when he leaves. He's a good enough manager to break the top six and secure a cup, and once you've got European football it gives you a springboard. The onwers will want to make a statement but can't do anything about signing players until January (although I suspect agents will be falling over themselves trying to get their players to Newcastle)
I can see them going for Conte though. Big name and Bruce can ride off into the sunset with a nice severance package
I don’t think Sterling will join Newcastle. He must be fed up of the Prem by now but your point still stands. I hope that they raid Man Utd for Fernandes. I also think they could go for some one like Lingard. In one aspect , it will improve the Prem competition which it doesn’t really need more of. It’s the best footballing league in the world. The Prem will have teams with a Emirati,American x4 ,Russian-Israeli,Thailand,Iranian-British,English x5,Chinese x2,Italian x2,Welsh,Egyptian owners and off course a Saudi owner.I imagine they'll start off like we did, if they're able to circumvent FFP. In the first January window after the takeover we signed Bellamy, Given, Bridge, De Jong. They lifted us from lower mid-table to a 10th place finish in 2009. What we did during that summer, that maybe Newcastle won't be able to do, was sign Lescott, Barry, Tevez, Adebayor, etc. on massive wages for big fees, then replace Hughes with Mancini. The Sheikh sunk loads of money in and we operated at a loss for about five years, which I'm not sure Newcastle will be able to get away with now that FFP is a thing and European football bodies are more acutely aware of "Gulf state ownership" or whatever name you want to put on it.
If they are able to do what we did in 2009, you imagine they'll spend in January on players like Wilfried Zaha, James Ward-Prowse, Granit Xhaka, etc. and maybe a couple of deadwood players United need to get rid of - in theory, they finish about 11th, sack Bruce, and get Graham Potter in from Brighton. Then in summer 2022 they'll make bigger moves to sign players like Raheem, or someone crazy like Insigne who's in the last year of his Napoli contract and looking for a last payday, etc. They can basically play fantasy football up to a point - we were a more attractive prospect in 2009 than Newcastle will be in 2022, and we could offer bigger wages. So this may all go tits up simply because they're coming from too far back and have already had the drawbridge pulled up in front of them, but it will be interesting to see whether they go the route of City or the route of someone like Malaga.
Delaney has been proved be an thick bastard by City Rabin and Prestwich Blue, he’s got no credibility at all. Some of these journalists on Twitter are working for Middle Eastern countries, you couldn’t make it up.It’s another payday for Delooney. He can fill his boots. Already heard an idiot on BBC saying: “it’s all about sports washing.” Does anyone seriously believe the Saudis give a toss about spotswashing? How stupid are these pundits?
