Wonder if Newcastle threatened the PL with legal action ?
I doubt they had to. It was never going to get past the PL's legal team. It was just bluster and an attempt to delay any investment until the summer.
Personally, I hope they get their sponsorship deals signed this month, get some new players in January and stay up.

What the PL tried to do was manifestly illegal. Since it was a temporary ban whilst the PL took legal advice, it is safe to assume that, when it came back, that advice agreed with our advice which led to our abstention.
The PL had better take steps to ensure they aren't relegated because, if they are, it opens up the prospect of a legal action for the delay in sanctioning the purchase, a delay which set back their buying plans for the season.
Hard to see how that would be successful because the Saudis made some concessions to get the deal to pass.
