Thats sports i guess all sports stars earn stupid money but in the end we (the fans) are the ones who fund it if no one watched or bought anything no one would be earning this much. Who would you rather have the money out of curiosity the players or owners?
Us. Via cheaper prices.

Newcastle need about 6 good signings to stay up, their current squad is garbage. They are 6 good players away from getting to Palace level.. let alone a Leicester or Wolves. Shows how much the mid table teams have come on and how little Ashley invested.
I've watched them a few times under Howe and they look pretty decent going forward. Defence is a big problem for them though, and I'm not sure he's a great defensive coach. 42 goals conceded, which is the join worst in the league by quite a distance. 1 win all season, which is pathetic.

Trippier is a good start, and they're strengthening the right area. But they've got themselves into a position where they're signing from a position of desperation. It's not the wages that'll be interesting, but the contract length. He's 31 and it wouldn't surprise me to see him getting a four-year contract out of them. We had a similar situation with Bellamy. He was good for us while he was here, but giving long contracts to older players can be a problem, and they might find it difficult to shift him when he's no longer good enough to get into the first team, or if a new manager comes in a doesn't fancy him.

But tactically, it's an established enough name to perhaps convince others to join. Remember, they only need enough signings to keep them in the league until the summer.

It’s amazing how easily that trips of the tongue where a footballer is concerned. Imagine earning £100K a Week in our lives. Even after 40% tax he would take home £60K a week basic, never mind add-ons and bonuses.
I thought I was doing okay in late 1990s when I earned $100,000 in a YEAR - then my contract ended and the belts were tightened big time.

Now they're in for Coutinho. I still hope they go down but I'm kind of glad for their fans, Ashley made them suffer for a long time.

Aaron Ramsey being linked with them as well this morning. I guess that's the way it's going to be over the next few windows, being linked with mid-level players. They won't attract A listers while they're in the position they're in.

Good start to their recruitment this month.
Agreed - I think (and hope) that they need just a few more signings of this level to stay up

Players of his calibre cannot achieve top 4 - but that is not the target - they can be next season's quad players of even disposable - just so long as they stay up
