The problem is that you can't buy a Roy Keane/Vieria (5 years ago) or Gerrard type player.
They really are a one off. There's nobody like that really out there now.

Who've we got in our squad?

Tevez, he will leap and jump from the team the second he's offered a higher wage, he's the player who so easily jumped ship from United to City he was never going to be a loyal player, and I don't think he's a good enough captain, and was probably given that position to keep him at City.

I think Kompany for me is our best bet, loyal, a leader, really stands up.

Who else? De Jong, a lot of the qualities Kompany has, but is a bit too unreliable. Can loose the head a bit.

Who else is on our books?
Given has captained Ireland, Newcaslte and City an numerous occasions, and was VC here for a good while. A very high win rate when he captains Ireland if I remember rightly.
But whether a keeper is the best option for a captain is another question really, but it's irrelevant I guess because you need to be playing really to be captain.

But for me I keep coming back to Kompany. Deserves it in my opinion and is well respected. But we're really lacking a leader at the moment, and ironically, with all the money in the world, you still can't buy a leader.

Those of us who sit in the north/south stands, can vouch for the fact, that vinnie as much of a fantastic defender and all round fella, wouldn't get as much respect as big nige. I've seen vinnie give other defenders a rollocking, only for them to turn round and tell him to fuck off. Somehow, i do not think de jong would get the same reply.

So for me it'd have to be de jong as captain, vincent as vice.

Vinnie seems everyones choice and I do love the guy to bits but at times he gets into a flap and seems to just lose the plot for a few minutes. I would be happy with him anyway though as I believe Carlos as captain is merely a gesture to shut him up. De Jong could be a choice and I'd be happy with that, but I'd love to see Micah in that role, if he could become an absolute regular in the side he'd make a great captain, speaks well on camera and i truly believe he loves Man City like no other player at the club.
Wherever you are reading this post Mancini, do it.

That bit makes the all time top ten of bollocks ever posted on here...

And who has ever suggested that Given should be recalled and made captain..?! credit to you though for at least realising your comment was irrelevent..

We should do all we can to keep Carlos and let him keep the armband .
As for leaders if Spurs don't make Champs League I would love to see us go for Michael Dawson and partner him with Vinny .
They would compliment each other perfectly and form a formidable partnership possibly the best centre back pairing in Europe ..

gotta b ndj for me, all day long
his desire inspires confidence
he leaves everything on the pitch
kompanys a close second for me
but nigel has to be captain, for me he is also the most important person in that system

Captains I cant be arsed with to be honest. Every single player should be trying to lead by example never mind a captain we should have all areas covered a leader in the defence a leader in midfield a leader up front. Look at Chelsea they have Terry , Lampard and even Drogba when on form leading there areas brilliantly last season this is what we need at the club. We have it with Tevez and De Jong if he was more giving a bollocking to players around him he would be the leader in the midfield. The defence Kolo should be that man last season it was Given but since Joe got in there is no real leader in the defence.
