Next Captain

Class like nearly every game he's played all season.

Showed how much we missed him against Everton and is actually at the start of most great moves we make.

Always available for the ball and cleans up brilliantly.

He looks after his team mates, anytime there's a bit of a dust up Nige will be there separating them, every team needs a strongarm, he's ours

I thought De Jong was brilliant today. We are definitely a better side with him in it. He doesn't limit it us at all and his passing has improved tremendously!

I wish he was our captain and not 3rd choice.

I always thought he could pass the ball. I think it is just the movement by the forwards gives him more options for the longer passes. He certainly never gave the ball away much.

My favourite player and he was missed so much against Everton - they would certainly not have scored that second goal with him on the pitch.

Contrary to popular belief, i think he goes for the ball 8/10 times, the 2 he doesnt are for our benifit, and risks taking one for the team, dont they all

He is the best in the prem in that position.

Both he and PV were excellent today

Not many will credit PV, but he was also great today, and seemed to be mentoring Mario too, chats with him, arms round him, and NDJ made him smile too.

A team today in many ways.

Tevez may stay, may keep the captain's armband.

Results against Leicester, Aston Villa, Notts County & Aris suggest it is not just quality of player that is enough. For me they need desire and even after spending the money we have there appears to be a lack of desire to get the winner and keep on or for that matter turn a defeat into a draw. In saying that we have not lost many.

Regardless, for me we need a new leader or general who through their will and attitude and ability on the pitch (similar to Tevez) and man management skills are able to up the tempo and keep that tempo when needed. We need to instill a never beaten attitude with the ability to thrash teams when the opportunity arises, goal difference is important.

Needs to communicate in English too.

For me we have Kompany and De Jong who are head and shoulders above all others currently at the Club. However are they true leaders and will they encourage/force others to step up their game to deliver at a higher and consistent level.

Wish I did have but I don't have the answers. Maybe Mancini does? I guess what I'm looking for is a John Terry three years ago (without the personal problems). A gladiator on the field. Would Kompany or De Jong grow into the leader role or do we need look further a field? Are there others out there and if so who do you think would be the right now and long term signing for us?

I believe that we are really near to being one of the very best teams around. What a wonderful time to be a Blue. Enjoy.

Kompany would be my ideal shout for Captain next year, can't see him getting it unless Tevez leaves though cos he'd just throw a hissy fit and throw in a transfer request or something.

Too early to say, if we don't make fourth; will have a new coach.
So, why knows?? If I were in charge, Kompany would already be
wearing the armband.

We Need a Roy Keane , Patrick Vieira at Arsenal ,Steven Gerrard Type Player.
A Real leader Who Loves The Club.

Kompany (Captain) De Jong (Vice Captain) Would Be Good.

Anyone remember that 4-4-2 spread on City, I remember than Shay Given said we needed a real "Terry Butcher type." A real leader, someone to kick us in the ass.

Maybe Carlos Tevez will step up in the when we it comes to crunch time. But Kolo Toure as vice-captain is some sort of joke selection by default. His time as captain last year was terrible.

Patrick Vieira it is then, means we have to play him almost every game though.

^ 5-10 years ago and Vieira would have been perfect.

Right now, the only players who even resemble the names mentioned are Kompany, De Jong, and Zabaleta (probably too much of a fringe player though). Down the line, Richards (if he keeps maturing and stays with us long-term) and Milner (if he ever fits in as you can't fault his attitude) are possibilities. Barry is a good professional but much too placid for my liking and is probably in line to be replaced if Mancini wants more pace for the midfield.

Really can't look beyond Kompany as captain and De Jong as vice-captain. But the armband will stay on Tevez as long as he stays with us because the club is scared of upsetting him!
