Next Captain

Kompany wore the armband and when Tevez came on he did not give it to him either (I believe?) ... has there been an official decision yet?

irrelevant until carlos starts a game. He's several weeks away from a start if his fitness/performance on sunday is anything to go by. In any case I still see a schneijder swap with inter if nasri falls over as a very real attacking midfield plan b. Why would bobby cross the captaincy bridge before he needs to? It's a much overused term but vinnie is clearly the spiritual leader on the park

Cannot see it being taken of Komps now. Tevez for all his great attributes on the pitch, playing by example is not leading a team. Interesting watching the tunnel cams on OS, you can see it in Kompanys eyes that he revels the role as club captain. If it were to go back to Tevez it would be an insult to Komps and the fans IMO. In any case, once Augero is up and running properly, I firmly believe that he and Dzeko will be first choice pairing in all major games. Great to have Tevez on the bench but he wasn't happy being captain of our great club so he aint gonna be happy sat watching! Dug his own grave, he best hope Inter can save him now and we can pull a couple of extra signings in before deadline. Looks like SWP, Bridge, Weiss, Ade,Nedum will be off the wages soon so hopefully that may help RM get his targets in. Stuck with RSC and Bellers though by looks of it.

Roberto has spoken:

Having reshaped and restyled his team by signing Sergio Aguero and then Samir Nasri, Roberto Mancini has confirmed a third major alteration to his Manchester City side.

"The captain is Vincent Kompany," he said.

Carlos Tevez's demotion to the ranks has been officially ratified.

The unsettled Argentine faces a battle to reclaim his place but, when he does, he will be serving under the Belgian.

"The reason is simple," Mancini said. "Carlos wanted to leave the club for family reasons. I respect his opinion, but I decided in the summer that Vinnie is captain."

I was worried because it hadn't been said at all before now. Then Tevez was piping up like he's still Billy Big-Balls here. I would have been very disappointed had he been given back the captaincy.

Well done Roberto. And congratulations to Vincent!
