Next Rail Strikes Announced.

I went to Sheffield earlier this year, on the day after a strike.Trains there and back were actually on time, and I'd booked in afvance and had a reserved seat in coach E on outward journey. Only problem was train arrived at Picc ,there were only three carriages (A-C) !!! a bit of a free for all and ended up standing all the way there on an overcrowded carriage for 55 minutes.
The Sheffield to Manchester service is one of the worst in the country...frequent last minute cancellations and over crowded one of the companies TPE? Has been taken back over by government.

Recently Hereford to Chester was cancelled as was Birmingham to Liverpool. I got fares back and there’s cans but it’s still a pain.

The whole rail network, or at least in the north, is geared towards travelling up and down. Try going virtually anywhere west to east and it’s a shambles.

I suppose having the Penines run right down the middle of half the country is the main reason for it but it’s no consolation when it takes you longer to get somewhere like Derby or York than it does London.
