Next seasons home shirt (allegedly)

Have you seen the Barcelona kits? Do you think their heritage is being questioned?

What kits?

The most recent one where Nike have actually given them a traditional nod to their '92 European Cup winning kit - while we get this monstrosity?

You don't think the club's identity is important?

You don't think that the suits in the boardroom can be responsible with that while focusing on other things?
I think it's very unlikely when the deal with Umbro / Nike was extended, there was an option for the club to be involved in kit design, hence the use of templates by Nike. Not just for us, for most if not all their teams.I'd' like us to go with somebody else when it comes up. But I'm not going to worry about it we've had loads of horrible kits in the last 30 years. It's certainly not another stick to beat the board with.

It's not just the shade mate, we have Navy blue sleeves for fuck's sake. Sky blue shorts and white socks.

We have never worn such a kit in our entire, almost 130 year, history.

It's a complete joke.

It changes every single season, and it think it takes the piss out of us as a club and undermines our identity.
100% agree

At least we can guarantee one thing, some jabroni journalist will be creating a list of worst strips of the season solely to have City #1. It's also quite interesting how I've perceived it, as a training top, I think it's alright but as a strip I'm negative towards it. I think the away strip will end up being nice though

I care about the club's identity mate, we're a part of that, but so is the kit.

No other major European club has their colours fucked about with the way we do, and to neutrals that must tell its own story.

Clubs evolve my friend, it's the nature of the beast... 4 years ago the idea of the CFG was going to infringe on our identity, has it? Caring is one thing but having moronic posts from eeejits talking about boycotting is frankly preposterous..

I'll say again, the club isn't defined by a shirt, nor should it!!

I don't buy them, I care about the colours our club turns out in. I think that's true of most blues who aren't happy with Nike. How our tradition is being shat on by some Yank kit manufacturer.

Could you imagine Adidas saying to Real Madrid: "right, we've come up with a distinct and modern touch, we've gone with Navy blue shorts and Navy sleeves, we think it's dynamic. Don't you love it?"

They'd be laughed out of the boardroom and told to stop taking the piss and knock something else up.

Imagine Real turning out in a kit like that in the Champions League.

It wouldn't happen.

But we'll be doing exactly that next season, all thanks to Nike and the clowns in boardroom that allow them to take the piss.
Remember not so long ago they had kits with animal Footprint's up the sleeves on both the home and away kits

I'd say the shirt is a huge part of defining a club is it not? Especially to the casual viewer or the general public.

Well, they went to hoops this year for the first time in history . . . and still outsold every other kit on earth. But I do think their fans would have been upset had the stripes not made a return for 16-17.

I totally understand the vitriol, and I much prefer the sky blue/white combination for aesthetic and traditional reasons. At the same time, I don't really care too much about the details as long as the shirt itself is sky blue. I don't have to buy it -- in fact I haven't bought a home one since 09-10 which was IMO our best kit since the early 70s. And as long as we perform in it I am always okay with it.

That said -- independent of what City are and should be, and my aesthetic preferences -- I don't think this kit is really THAT awful. I also think (a) it's going to look better on the players and in a professional photo shoot and (b) most people will get tired of complaining about this after three or so weeks of battering it.

Of course it is, just ridiculous to dismiss it as something not very important.
