Neymar

Barca’s three strikers were unbeatable with Luis Enrique.

“The individual talent that is closest to Messi’s is Neymar’s, especially back then, in terms of his creativity.

“He was the right age.”

Neymar arrived at Barcelona at the age of 21 and went on to win two La Liga titles and the Champions League.

Guardiola continued by explaining just why ‘MSN’ flourished.

“They showed order, dedication and they put in the work, as well as being madly obsessed, like Luis Enrique,” he added.

Alves lauds the Pep+Neymar potential

Speaking to Goal ahead of the launch of the new documentary about Guardiola's generation-defining Barcelona side, 'Take the ball, Pass the ball,' Alves said that even that team would have improved with his compatriot in it.

"Both Neymar and Barcelona would have been even better had he been part of that team coached by Guardiola, without a doubt. Both would have been better.

"It would have been like myself and Barca, a perfect fit. I believe that if Neymar had been coached by Guardiola, he would have done even bigger things.

"He would already have been the best in the world now, without a doubt, there is absolutely no doubt about it."

Alves went on to say that after Guardiola came into the Catalan club he gradually put things into place, and there was an immediate feeling that something special lay ahead.

Neymar and Guardiola have not yet worked together in the same club, although the PSG forward has said on a number of occasions that he would relish the opportunity to do so.

"I have always wanted to work with Guardiola, he said in May of this year, "It's different, I arrived [at Barca] after he left. I really want to work with him."

The Germany international said he owed plenty to Guardiola – who coached Messi at Barca – as the Spaniard called on him to learn from the Argentina star and Neymar.

"He is able to help me with things because he knows how Messi plays, how he trains because he saw him every day," Sane said, via The Telegraph.

"And that's why he tries to help me - to give me the confidence to say, ‘Yes, try this – try maybe to do it like this, like Messi does or Neymar does'."

Speaking after the match, Guardiola felt Zabaleta's attitude encapsulated his team's fighting spirit on a raucous night at the Etihad Stadium.

"The important thing is we showed the way to compete against the big teams – like Zabaleta, for two weeks with no training session after the Barcelona game," he explained.

"[Monday] was the first day. [On Tuesday] he arrived and said 'I'm ready if you need me'.

"So he played against Neymar. Guys… Neymar! And he played how he played. That is the steps to go forward.

Josep Guardiola has brushed off suggestions that Neymar's arrival could upset the apple cart at Barcelona, where Lionel Messi is used to being the main man. "Barcelona has always had some of the most brilliant players in the world in its squad... Neymar and Messi are undoubtedly two of the best out there today. I know Messi well; he's a fantastic player and a fantastic person. And I've met Neymar and he seemed like a good lad. I'm sure they won't have any problems playing together at Barça".

He is not city player

If he is so good why do PSG want shot of him?
Financial reasons I’d suspect are a big reason and they’ve probably weighed up that out of all the players on huge contracts Neymar is probably the most disposable.

Surely there can’t be any doubts on his quality? His application can be questioned but not his ability.
