He went on for about five posts about how a name was "coming to town", "expect fun and fireworks", "we've gone and blown the bloody doors off" - that is not "representatives have been in touch" or "we're looking at his wage demands" energy, that's "Neymar has already bought a one-bedroom house for him and his sister in Manchester" energy. It's a bizarre episode for him to come out with, let's be honest. He's clearly got some good info sources but this was a weird one.

Who knows the way it was portrayed to him may have been City want to try and do the deal and neymar is willing to do a wage cut to make it happen. But, a wage cut on 750k to 500k while a significant wage cut is still not enough to fit into city's structure. Who knows- I don't doubt though that his info re: city's interest perking in neymar over the last two weeks. Obviously just not as advanced as thought.

I'm sorry, but nothing except information that is extremely close to full confirmation warrants that series of comments. "City exploring a big name possibility", maybe. Not "we've only gone and blown the bloody doors off! Get ready for fun and fireworks! A huge name is coming to town!".

I don't think he'd say we'd "blown the doors off" about us just meeting his representatives, personally...
 
I remember when Gareth Bale pitched up at NYCFC a few years back to “watch a game” turned out he was there to watch a game…

Maybe. I admit that my original post could be interpreted wronly if not well read as it is a sensitive topic in this thread. Knowing that and seeing him calling the mods made me think he misunderstood the post.

I voted ‘no’ but was right on the fence to fall either way.

Not his biggest fan because of his play acting and general persona…but he is a very good player that would almost certainly excel in our team.

IF Pep wants him / thinks he can get the best out of him and he was willing to make it financially viable for the club then it’s a quandary.

Then you need to balance out is he actually needed? Haaland will play every big game when fit, Foden, Mahrez and Grealish will want to be in amongst it and then you don’t want to block the pathway for Alvarez (he could hit the ground running) or Palmer.

On balance I think there isn’t enough room in the squad to make it work.
