I'd assume it's pretty standard that the player himself doesn't literally pay the release clause and the money comes from the buying club.

Part of La Liga rule states that the player must pay the release clause. There was a load of nonsense when United bought Herrera and Bayern bought Martinez.

I saw plenty of reports stating that even if the club gives said player the money to buy himself out, it then becomes taxable income and the club ends up paying more than their release clause.

The assumption would be it came from PSG, so its a bit premature to say they have got one over FFP. We don't know what sales they will make to balance the books , but it will all show up in there accounts so they will either pass or fail FFP.
If on the other hand it has come from a third party then when the time comes I'm sure that would be looked into as well. Think all this end of FFP celebration may be a bit premature.

The way I just read it was he paid the release clause and was for a short time out of contract, would've been a big fuck you to psg had we swooped in and signed him on a free (payback for Dani Alves)

I think it's just a legal technicality. I'd imagine PSG will give the money to Neymar in the form of a signing bonus or something of that nature. I very much doubt in their next set of accounts they won't have the £200 million accounted for in some form.

I dont like what PSG did.

The Premier League expect the TV deal to go up nearly 40% globally from 18/19 so regardless of PSG, transfer fees were going to get even bigger anyway.

How would they know. The financial year this transfer applies to has only just started. Players can be sold, sponsorships can be earned on the back of this signing, champions league revenue can increase by tens of millions.

Fair enough if its City, its just your opinion of the deal, but its not one shared by the majority, because seeing one of the cartel clubs getting screwed over is quite amusing to most of us.
