The PL might be disappointed next time the domestic contract is up for renewal. BT seem to be struggling for viewers, and Sky have admitted their viewing figures are falling, a straw poll amongst football fans I know (mainly match goers to be fair), suggests at least, that people are drifting away from Sky, and not renewing their contracts, we were chatting at work last night, fans of three different clubs, and we were all watching considerably less games on TV.
I think we're already seeing the effect a lack of viewers is having on BT - the last couple of years they've had loads of friendlies on, this year none/almost none (may have missed the odd one) nor any of the uefa chimps/europa qulifiers (again may have missed one)

BT shot themselves in the foot though, thinking the only people that watched wanted to hear from shit house rags and dippers so that's their own fault viewing figures were shite.

I agree. I've not bought it cos split across teo channels like that it's ridiculous. It's just not worth the price imo

That's because Brussels DGlV ballsed it up. Europe wanted more competition without understanding football's fan relationships. They insisted that no broadcaster should have a monopoly but decided to split the games between 2 or 3 broadcasters thereby forcing fans to take out 2 subscriptions. They should have ensured that at least 2 broadcasters had rights to televise live the same games. That way the broadcasters could only compete by offering a better service, better pundits or a better price. As I said they got it wrong because they don't understand football and the fans.

They aren't though. They are watching the coverage via streams. The advertisers won't give a fuck. They know they are still being seen.
I agree, but most people only really stream their own teams games, so the advertisers will have to take notice imho.

I used to watch pretty well any game that was on, but I only watch City now really (I might watch the odd game from the championship etc if I've nothing to do), I've only really kept Sky for the cricket. Perhaps there will be a new way forward with regards streaming, as they are still trying to outlaw it (good luck), as there was with music downloads years ago.

One of the biggest factors for me was it being split between broadcasters here, I really dislike BT, and rarely hear a good word about them, but I'm not arsed to watch WHU V Burnley etc, either on live TV, or on a stream, 10 years ago I probably would have.
