Any Bears fans on here? I'm a big Fields fan since the QB1 series. Will be following them next year.
Haven't had a genuine star quarterback since the 1950s, so Fields will either be a revelation or join that lengthening list of fanfared flops. Pace and Nagy definitely need Fields to succeed in his first year, otherwise, they could well be out the door themselves, and whoever replaces them had then better like him. Should at least be an interesting year, so 9-8-0...

I'm not against it, the kid is a beast, but we need to address the safety positions. Like emergency stuff.

Hard to turn down a talent like Pitts though
The Falcons should be ok this season at safety. They drafted Richie Grant with their second pick. He is very versatile, can play deep or in the box. Guys drafted on the cusp of 1st/2nd round like he was are often good solid players.

Moreover, he won't be expected to play right away and carry the full load. Two solid veterans were signed in free agency. Their names escape me. As a Falcons fan, I'd be concerned that CB and Edge rusher were neglected until later.

If you have a good edge rusher that can get to the quarterback rapidly the secondary doesn't have to be quite as good because the QB has less time to make decisions and the receivers less time to try and get open. Conversely, good cornerbacks can keep the receivers blanketed giving a not as good of a pash rush the opportunity to get to the quarterback. You've heard the term "coverage sack" I'm sure. The Falcons should have addressed one of these positions early, in my opinion.

Jim McMahon and Jay Cutler were no slouched! They may not have been a Joe Montana or Tom Brady but both were pretty damn good.
