N'Golo Kante

No thank you, don't want us being the Bayern of this league. Plenty of players out there without us just scooping it from our new-found rivals who found their guy through thorough scouting. That is, unless it is Arsenal. That is always fun!

Haven't read the topic. Had a few pints. Watched 15 Leicester games. Dude is a
Fking monster. He will get soooo many cards for city that he doesn't get now. Refs can get fked.

Honestly one of my favorite players to watch play right now. A. Monster.
Good. At least someone sees what I see. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but Dihno gets carded for half the tackles he makes.

Anyway, I think he gets away with a lot that Dihno doesn't. That said, please watch Drinkwater too. Don't think he gets enough credit for his intelligence and passing.

Not for me, yes he's been phenomenal, but for me it's down to the system and style of Leicester. He fits them like a glove, when at a team like ours I highly doubt he'll have the same impact.
Agree with this. But it could just be that I'm a snub.

I actually think Kante would excel for us, someone who can win the ball back quickly, has the mobility, fitness and selflessness for a pressing style, and who can recycle possession quickly. Clearly you wouldn't play him at home against Norwich, but a lack of players with his attributes is part of the reason we've been so shit against better teams this season.

Perhaps we don't need him if Delph can get fit and perform, and Fernandinho doesn't need to play virtually every match in midfield by himself, but i wouldn't write Kante off as being unsuited to ourselves.

Lol at people saying he only suits Leicester's system. He's by far the best central midfielder in the league.

Due to Leicesters system, he is able to just sit deep and boot the ball forward. It's the easiest job in the world being a defensive midfielder in a system that is really, really deep.

In our system, Pep or Pellegrini, he would have to be able to use the ball well, pick a pass and be composed. From what I've seen, he won't be able to do any of them things at a level that is expected of him.

Have you actually watched him play? Saying he "sits deep" is laughable. The guy is literally a half yard from the ball wherever it is on the pitch.

Kante - 30 appearances, 1 goal, 25 chances created(3 assists), 82% pass accuracy(highest in the team), 96 tackles, 126 interceptions, 53 clearances, 9 blocks(total of 284 defensive contributions)

Fernandinho(Most alike) - 27 appearances, 2 goals, 23 chances created(1 assist), 88% pass accuracy, 64 tackles, 46 interceptions, 43 clearances, 3 blocks(total of 156 defensive contributions)

Though given how much Kante would likely cost i'd rather go for Idrissa Gueye who in my opinion has been just as good but gone under the radar due to how shit Villa have been.

Guardiola signed Vidal for Bayern and plays him every week. Similar player to Kante - unbelievable engine, reads the game well, presses superbly, good passer.
They are similar without the ball, but Vidal is actually good with the ball, which is the difference. Vidal isn't just their to chase the ball like a dog

I'd like to see stats about yards covered and proximity to the opposition ball carrier. There'd be a huge gulf, plus lets not forget Kante is doing it without being surrounded by world class talent.

That's an advantage for Kante, as he doesn't have lazy world class teammates who only work on offense.

A fantastic defensive midfielder with amazing vision. Defends well and when he wins the ball he finds players up the field with amazing vision.Along with Riyad Mahrez, Leicester's best player this season. Hopefully we can bag both.

He reminds of Gelson Fernandes - only a lot better.

He has been excellent this season, but, he's doing it in a team, which, as a whole, have been out of their skin.

It might just be a bit too soon to decide to spend big money on him.
(although, admittedly, it'd be even more if we waited another season)

If we signed Gundogan/Pogba, then would we really need him considering we've already got Fernandinho and Delph?

On a slightly different note, I hope, no matter where they finish, that most of this Leicester squad stay where they are rather than instantly seizing the opportunity for big money elsewhere. Try and build on/repeat their achievements and make more history.

Kante is like a Fernando but with worse passing. Everyone here loving him would hate him if he joined us - he is a headless workhorse tackling machine with little ball skill.
Yeah it has worked this year with Leicester, doesn't mean we should sign Huth or Morgan ether.

Edit - so for me a Massive NO!!!! - would be expensive because of his success this year and to be honest - he is a poor passer that works hard - I wouldn't want him at City even if he was cheap.

I wouldn't want him either. 1) I think this season is an abbehration 2) I'm a bit of a snub and like my footballers with ball skill. Didn't like De Jong and he had more skill than Kante. I get it that he is a fighter, but we can find fighters with skill. They may not be as intense as Kante, but overall they'd offer more.

He's nothing like Fernando, at all. He's very good on the ball actually, especially at setting up counter attacks after he wins possession. He was excellent at Caen before he came to Leicester, as an all round midfielder, not a defensive midfielder. If you were comparing him to anyone in our team it would be Fernandinho.

'He's very good on the ball actually' - no idea how to do quotes- but you can't be serious - given the context of our ambitions he is pretty atrocious on the ball.

Hit the reply button, bottom right.

Totally disagree with you on this one, he's no Pirlo, but more than capable at passing it about, plus he has this low centre of gravity and burst of acceleration, very adept at nipping past a couple of players and playing it to the forwards.

The context of our ambitions, well i can't see us beating Barcelona at their own game, no point just being an inferior imitation. I think were going to need players like Kante, also in the Premier League these days very few teams just sit and let us play, we have to win the battle first, especially away from home.
