NHS Pay Award, letter to Johnson from my union, please sign if you can

Always amazes me how selfish people are. Conversation around other people’s pay usually goes like this. Do the people in question deserve a pay rise. Yes. What’s the pay rise being proposed? More than inflation. Well hold on a minute that sounds like a significant rise. Yes. Well I work hard too. No one is debating that. Perhaps these people don’t deserve a rise.

The NHS has been underfunded since the 80s. Most (not all) of their staff haven’t seen a proper pay rise in decades. They’ve just dragged us through a pandemic and experienced things none of us will fortunately witness in our lives.

Everyone should be signing this petition.

water off a ducks back for me in my nhs role the last year or so
i was more worried about my mrs and our teenage son

what she saw and experienced chills me still
losing a close collegue in her work etc

she was,and is worth more than she got paid
£9.20 per hour on ITU

no one,can argue otherwise

Anyone who doesn’t agree with the basic principle of helping from the ground up imho are selfish wankers.

That's my take on it, you rarely hear about the people on minimum wage, increases should happen from the ground up as you say.

I'm arguing my personal corner because I'am NHS and my mrs too

I agree totally about minimum wage folk, who btw are not on much less than my wife,as in about 40 pence an hour

last year opened a lot of peoples eyes, bin men, cleaners, supermarket workers etc,all tradionaly low paid yet keeping this country going like they always do.

they deserve so much better too, without a minimum wage they would be still far worse off,i wonder who introduced that and who opposed it back in the late 1990's

kudos to them all key workers.

Philosophical question here. Would you rather:

1. be paid £1 more or
2. pay £1 less in tax and have someone earning significantly more than you pay £1 extra in tax.
