This is a good point in the sense we are planning for the future.

Next season a midfield of Rodri, Nico and Foden would be really well rounded.

I think one thing we are looking for going forward is players complimenting each other so bringing out their key strengths.

Fernandinho and KDB had a good connection together and made the other better.

Rodri is incredible going forward so having a similar profile of player means they day really form an understanding.

Nico might not be blessed with huge amounts of pace but he’s tenacious, good at breaking lines and versatile, while he does have legs to get up and down.

Really hope this one goes through.

Agreed.

Pace in a midfielder isn’t an absolute necessity if they make up for it in intelligence and energy. Like Rodri does and Gundo did for years. They know when to press and how to read the game.

Weirdish of all the weird decisions Pep has made, still can’t understand it to this day and the performance of Rodri in our next CL final makes it even more perplexing.
If it hadn't happened ,one would sat it wouldn't or couldn't happen.

I'll never forget the look on Kevin's face as he came out of the tunnel.....beaten before he stepped on the pitch.

Sterling instead of Rodri...
!!

Still makes me a little uncomfortable our main target is still not in the building despite we sitting on 2nd Feb.

Maybe its just me because more than a decade of watching Ferna and Rodri sweeping all dangers away and then this shell of a midfield that we have now has really scarred me.

Porto : Show me the money!

Txiki : Porto, you got to yell, I’m retiring!

Porto : [screaming] Show me the money! Show me the money!

-:)

I can see us agreeing a compromise figure. Tbf Paul you’re not exactly known for your positivity
Just think we fuck about with transfers when we don’t need to mate . Tbh this signing should have been wrapped up weeks ago as it’s what we really needed even more so than 2 young defenders . Hope im wrong as he looks a really good player .

I'm sure you would also be saying 60m would be too much

I’ve seen some comments (mainly on the twitter cesspit) suggesting his YouTube highlights are shit.

They’re not. They’re just not full of the usual skills and goals.

He reminds me of the Athletico version of Rodri shown on highlight reels. Tall, strong, a hugely varied passing range and the odd good finish. Which is absolutely fine by me. We’ve got enough eye catching attackers who can score goals, we need a pillar to let them flourish and that’s what Rodri is and Gonzales would be.

Plus if he signed, it could mean that Rodri could move to an 8 because he’s a fantastic asset going forward too. Gonzales could be too.

Really hope this gets done.
I sometimes think fans would be happier if they looked wank in them clips

Think Gonzalez would be more likely to play the 8 and Rodri stay where he’s the beat in the world . Who knows though looking forward to seeing what we do in the next few years myself.

Don’t think it gets done mate as u can’t see us paying what they want .
If that's was the case then why did Romanio tweet we were negotiating when he 1st dropped the story, surely Porto would have rejected any offer below the release clause straight away. It's probably the sell on clause that Porto don't want to pay Barca that will scupper the deal so close to the window closing
