Nicoló Barella

agreed. I think Pep is also testing slightly the clubs desire to go again? Very interesting wording last night about how the club need to make important decisions about the squad quickly? He wants reinforcements and fast and wants to see if the club want to go again imo and that starts at the top.
I think he is just saying that after the club decide whether to spend money or regain money, he'll then make the best of it. I think Pep has always been clear in that he is just an employee like anyone else. He doesn't want to run the club.

I'd it blocks a potential Wirtz transfer in a year, then it's a definite No for me.

This is Haaland and Kane all over again in my view. And the best choice is to wait. Get a winger in. Then wait.
Think if anyone is going to block Wirtz to City it would be Foden convincing Pep he’s ready to take that central spot, not who we sign this summer.

Different positions + Barella is young. Kane is not. Not similar in the slightest.
Wirtz will add significantly more than Barella. This is one of those types of things where 2 players are similar in overall talent. But bring different skills to the table. And the skill of one will have a multiplier effect while the other will simply just fit in.

That's Wirtz and Barella difference. Time will tell. I'm firmly putting myself in the Wirtz camp.

Same with Wirtz next season is a good time to try. Keep in contact with both their agents and test the water then.

No guarantee we’d get Wirtz next summer either. Look what happened with Bellingham and Rice
At least this summer we’re pretty much the last remaining whale in the casino

I don’t think it would and although I have not seen a huge amount of Wirtz I would say they play slightly different roles.

Based on the premise of one or a potential transfer next year for the other, I think the club should prioritise Barella over a possible Wirtz. From what I can see Wirtz as not yet indicated he wants to leave and as this summer has shown their are so many moving parts in transfers.

A great season could alert Real Madrid or PSG, who would likely outbid us or a change in his personal circumstances may result in him staying in Germany, therefore possibly moving to Bayern. For me if we had a chance to get Barella, or wait for Wirtz I would be thinking tomorrow never comes….

With the make up of our squad today, i'd take Barella right now.

We need another quality centre midfield player and Barella would let Pep perm two of Rodri, Kovacic and Barella. Any combination of those two would be brilliant for us and it would let the players get their rest.

We have Foden who can play Wirtz's position and then Kev will be back in the new year.

Same argument works for Central mid when Bernado and John Stizzle returns.

26 & we already bought a player like him (Kova)...I would be surprised if we are interested & pay the fee that Inter wants (more than £70m)

He's got the goals in his drawer Kova doesn't. He's a top tier CM and we'd be lucky to have him especially this late in the window. And since when was 26 a death sentence?

So hasn't even entered his prime......and we would be willing to spend that money on the right player.
