Congratulations Ota on proving stats don't tell the whole story in football.

I think i heard Danny Kelly on Talksport say that Walcott has scored more goals in all comps than Bergkamp did for Arsenal earlier in the week (so it might not be true) and they both have 11 seasons at the club, as they are both strikers does that mean Walcott is better than Bergkamp? Lies, damn lies and statistics.

Amazing how they can get it right for Nico but fail to spot Stones making that tackle, go to the 80th minute, @schfc6 is spot on, it was that tackle that led to the breakaway which eventually resulted in the 5th goal.

I don't doubt Otamendi is good in duels but where's the marks against for not being able to judge the flight of a ball? Playing Falcao onside for their equaliser? Does he get marked down for lazily throwing a leg into Falcao having been caught wrong side again?

Just saw it. That actually was an important tackle and a blunder by whoever was logging the game. As far as nico. Falcao had a running start there and was barely out of his nico's line of sight while he was tracking the ball. He could have done better but I'm not sure that's really a blunder from nico.

Too right it's a blunder, piss poor defending mate. That said he's unlucky the linesman didn't bail him out as Falcao was just offside when the ball was played across.

That's 100% not a blunder. How do you watch the ball, the trajectory, and see the movement of a man behind you all at once? Falcao was 5 yards or more behind him when the ball went in the air

I think your wires are getting crossed.

Sorry mate, getting confused here, what incident are you referring to here?

You position yourself in such a way so that the player isn't bling side of you. Ota was poorly positioned for their penalty if that's what you are talking about.

Its called reading the game, having good positional sense, being disciplined to mark correctly and then because of getting those things correct, being able to actually put a defensive header in, if Falcao is more than 5 yards away from him, in the penalty area then that is fucking woeful positioning/marking, and that is all too common with Ota. Stats wont show this as there is no stat for being out of position all the time on your website, or one for being on your arse the most or one for feigning injury when a striker touches you either.

That's why you mark the man and not the ball, ever heard the phrase 'ball-watching'?

Whoops. We're talking about two different things here. He mentioned the blunder and the stones tackle and thought he was calling that lost 50/50 ball outside the box the blunder that led to stones having to make the tackle in the box. My mistake.
