Nigel De Jong

If we sell him we to Italy we must already have something in the pipe because we have to replace him for CL play as Barry and Milner will not get the job done against other euro teams and rodwell is inexperienced in that area as well..

I personally think he's off his hinges if he thinks it will get any better for him else with regards to finance and football.

Who will pay him more than the reputed 100k and where will he be in with a chance of winning anything?

Bayern maybe...trophies probaly, that wage no.

Inter Milan, trophies maybe, that wage unlikely.

Still be sad to see him in the colours of another team.

Has been good for us. Bobby doesnt rate him as much as many on bluemoon and De Crab rates himself highest out of everyone.

If 1ook plus a week isnt good enough for him then no doubt he will run down his contract in anticipation of a bumper signing on fee.

He can fuck right off as far as I am concerned. And take your bullshit "love of the club and fans" with you.

Overated, cant pass forward to save his life and a very limited footballer in as much as the 100k a week category goes.

He was deeply involved in 4 of our last 5 goals at Newcastle and QPR,so how you can say he can`t pass forward is bollocks.

I know what you're saying but in most of those circumstances the only option was a forward pass, what with the opposition sat so deep.

I personally don't want to see him leave however and I think he still has a place in our team and dare I say our hearts.

What pisses me off,are people who claim he`s shit at passing forward. Some people need to realise that first and formost he is DM,trying to break up attacks.
He isn`t blessed with an eye like Silva, for splitting open a defense and in most cases he will look for players like Yaya and Samir to do the business, but I wouldn`t change him for anyone.

I fully agree. I would rather he stayed. Loved the game against Newcastle where he came on freeing Yaya to get further up the pitch.

Ridiculous comment and you know it.

Make your mind up ffs. in your last post you were crediting him with making 4 of our last five goals.

He can break up an attack, although since Ben Arfa he is concious of his challenges and for a supposedly world class dm there are plenty of occassions where he has been asleep.

As a footballer he is limited, nowhere near worth 130 or 140k a week.

I can't believe Nigel wont sign a contract for 100k per week with the champions of the EPL and a good chance to win more silverware. A lot of talk about his ability on the pitch and that undoubted, he's very good but it's his greed that's an issue.

Our wages policy is making mercenaries of our better players. If we sell him we'll be lucky to get 8mill for him and you couldn't buy a younger player to replace him for less than 15mill, remember he performs equally well at European level at what he does (better than Barry does at that level).

He has us over a barrell, we have to keep him so I say begrudgingly pay him the money but hopefully no more than 120k.
This new CEO better get on the road and get us some sponsorship before our loyal players bleed the club dry!

Absolutely no more than 100k.

We're dealing with a car salesman after all.
I might be in the minority but he can stay on the bench for a year or go.
And anyway, he's not a Gerry Gow.

from Christian Benteke, Dries Mertens, Romelu Lukaku and Jan Vertonghen forced the newly-appointed coach to start his second spell in charge of the Oranje on the back foot, and he lamented his players' lack of organisation.

"We lost because of personal mistakes," the Dutch trainer told SBS 6. "The first half wasn't good because we played sloppy when we had the ball."

He also singled out Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong for criticism: "At half time, I said to my players that Nigel de Jong should stay away when we had the ball.

"We started the second half very well, but due to personal mistakes we threw away the match. Especially the second goal, that was a big mistake by De Jong."

Van Gaal hoped Netherlands could take positives from the result, however, saying: "We can learn from this match. We had a very young squad and Belgium is a good team. They are more experienced then us."

Meanwhile, Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder was also critical of his team's individual errors: "We didnt play well in the first half.

"The second was a lot better, but we gave it away with two personal mistakes by Nigel de Jong and Maarten Stekelenburg."

He added that he hoped a change in tactics could improve the national team's results: "I think that with a new team and a different system [4-3-3 instead of 4-2-3-1] we can be partly satisfied.

"We had to score more goals, but at some points in the game we really played very well."

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben echoed his colleagues sentiments, claiming: "We can learn from this match and we have a lot of work to do."

So he has a bad game, and suddenly he is a rubbish player? De Jong's strengths far outweigh his weaknesses and the people who are not "fans" of his, seem to come up with the same tired criticisms, such as "limited" and "better midfielders" around. Is he a requirement in every game? Probably not. If De Jong is on the field on Sunday, do we concede those goals? In my opinion no.

Shame he doesnt want to be on the field unless he gets an extra 30 or 40k a week in his back pocket. As for Sunday it was a typical 1st match of the season. De Crab would not have made any difference imo. Barry maybe, he has a footballers brain and is far superior to dc.

Do you not think there;'s an element of him being an old boy whose been here a relatively long time and is maybe a bit disruptive?

There's always Zab. He can do it.

This nastiness directed against DeJong is unmerited & disrespectful to a player who has played a big part in getting City to the position they are in, with some big performances when we've needed him.

I can't believe we've actually won the league with some of the stuff that people come out with on here against players who were involved in crucial moments during the season. AJ, DeJong etc if they have to go, they go, but there's no need for all this backstabbing & character assassination.

Added to that, it's a crock of shit.
