Nissan - sponsorship confirmed (page 7)

It "dwarfs" any other deal in the premier league including Chelsea and Arsenal's. They must also mean the rags deal with Chrysler as well, worth £44 million per year? Great news if so, and very astute not to broadcast the actual amount.

No, sorry. NOT a shirt sponsor deal, just a CAR SPONSOR deal. Biggest CAR sponsor deal!

P.S. It's Chevrolet (GM), not Chrysler (Fiat).

Ok thanks CB. Sorry about the Chevy error!

Although the financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, Sportsmail reports that it is worth tens of millions of pounds to Manchester City and its associated teams.

City describing it as "the most significant of its type in the Premier League".

If this doesn't say it all.

Why should they reveal details ?
Sufficient at this stage to acknowledge agreement has been made and get maximum media exposure for that if only to speculate on its value.

Also if other potential sponsors are negotiating with our leaders (very likely) then revealing a ballpark figure may be counter productive to these ongoing talks.

Spot-on, City never reveal the value of a deal unlike the rags who want to boast, they then quote the total amount a deal could be worth if all the add-ons and bonuses were achieved Totally unprofessional

That's my point, no need to reveal details with this statement by our club..

There's a lot of speculation on here (naturally) about how much this deal is worth, but maybe the monetary value isn't the main (or maybe only) significant thing. It's obviously no coincidence that we have taken a stake in Yokohama (a Nissan owned club) at the same time.

There are a million and one guesses that could be made about what each party gets out of it, and we clearly aren't going to know most of it for quite some time. It could be that we didn't pay for the stake in Yokohama, and Nissan aren't paying for the advertising. Or maybe we are going to make our money out of the sale of football expertise to Yokohama. Or maybe the deal isn't about money directly for either party, but is instead about growing the 'brand'. Or maybe none of these, or all of them.

Looks like we'll just have to be patient. Whatever the club are up to it looks like they have found a new slant on how to run a football club.

I don't even think it's a "new" way in running a club. I feel the clubs sat at the top of the sports dining table have had their fingers in many pies like this for years, launching agreements with big corporates having the right contacts and fighting a result off the pitch.

We're getting the right contacts now, coming into favour with companies such as Nissan (who are now also UEFA sponsors)
This is how it works.

You want to threaten City with bans UEFA?
ok, we'll do business with the same people you do business with.

We've taken a pinch.
