No More In This Transfer Window

Ball?

Is this the same Ball that couldn't get a game at Swindon?

Who has just returned to us because Swindon didn't think he was good enough?

Yeah, I see what you mean about him being a good option to cover for Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko..!

;-))

That's a fair point mate - however let me have a pop at defending myself.

I'd probably give Guidetti, then Nimley, then Ball a game in that order - and I did say these lads would follow Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli and Jo in the pecking order - which essentially makes Ball our 7th choice striker. Which essentially means he'll never get a game.

The point I was trying to make is that we can't just keep on buying more strikers, otherwise we'll never bring anyone through the ranks. The Club are spending a lot of money on completely overhauling the academy so it can begin to produce players for the first team.

We'll never attract young prospects if they can't see any route through to the first team. I mean - we're struggling to get Guidetti (who is very well thought of) to sign an extension to his current deal for exactly those reasons.

But yeah - I take your point - the Swindon deal doesn't seem to have shown Ball in the best light, does it

The only criteria I have for a player playing for us is... is he good enough?

That's it. Nothing to do with age. Nothing to do with youth product. Nothing to do with being the Manager's son...

Ball will not even make it at Champiomnship level. He'll actually do well to make it as a professional footballer at any level. Harsh but true.

Nimley is, I think, the best option. But even he isn't making the breakthrough like I thought he would.

And Guidetti? Can't get a game at Burnley...

I think too many City fans are blinkered when it comes to the quality of the current youth set-up... it's as poor as I can ever remember it.

I don't reckon we need to get anyone else in, though - we'll continue with Yaya, Nigel and Gareth in midfield, so any three of Silva, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli, Johnson, Milner or (ffs...) Jo can fill the front three spots. Dependent on form, opposition, injury and so on.

Some reports saying SWP close to moving to Fulham on loan but the stumbling block is his 60k/week wages, as they will pay him no more than 45k/week.

Can't wait for Ian Wright's measured response to this - if we were mugging his son on £60k per week. £45k a week in London!!!! - no one can be expected to live on that.

In my opinion, Roberto saying "I don't think so" isn't a definite no though I think it's unlikely we'll see anyone else - barring cover for Silva.

I've posted on my blog about this exact subject, if anyone is interested!

Fair enough mate - you might be right about those three. But how are we ever going to get any decent strikers to join the Academy and improve its quality (a stated aim of our owners, and a necessity with the new FFP rules limiting our Transfer Activity hereon in) if they can't see any route through to the first team?

Irrespective of the quality of Ball, Guidetti, Nimley or the Academy, I just can't see the sense in buying another striker, which was what I was originally gettin at.

I think now we have Dzeko, Tevez and Balotelli, we can say with confidence that no-one in the League has a better strikeforce.

Considering our formation generally involves just one out and out striker, I can't see the sense in signing another - but each to their own, I suppose
Bobby's clearly full of shit! Tolmie told us that we were negotiating for someone else (probably Kaka, if we're to logically follow the 'Jesus, this time it's for Real' clues). So don't give up hope guys!

Unless (and this is so ridiculous, I can't believe I'm even writing this) he was making stuff up, and now he's done a runner before anyone can pull him up on it.
I suspect it is over interpretation of his words and overreaction to his posts, like yours above, that has scared the shit outta him and caused him to have a nervous breakdown. Fearing the lynch mob will be out for him if Kaka, Messi and other superstars do not sign this transfer window.

We have Dzecko signed already and that is a mega signing for a January transfer window.

Fans need to be realistic and use a modicum of common sense.

Mancini is taking the pressure off himself and putting it back on clubs who want to sell their players to us.

If we buy no one fine. If we buy others then the price will have come down as they will be coming to City not the other way round. With our squad it is Win-win.

any more signings?

do you think thats it now untill summer, or would you like to add someone else?

Re: any more signings?

would like a few players to go out and a few new young lads to come in so we can devlop them.i still think we need 2 more world class midfielders aswell.

Nimely was given a chance in europa league. he reacted by playing badly. not a very good striker IMO.
