We have Dzecko signed already and that is a mega signing for a January transfer window.

I think too many City fans are blinkered when it comes to the quality of the current youth set-up... it's as poor as I can ever remember it.

But how are we ever going to get any decent strikers to join the Academy and improve its quality (a stated aim of our owners, and a necessity with the new FFP rules limiting our Transfer Activity hereon in) if they can't see any route through to the first team?

Irrespective of the quality of Ball, Guidetti, Nimley or the Academy, I just can't see the sense in buying another striker, which was what I was originally gettin at.

I think now we have Dzeko, Tevez and Balotelli, we can say with confidence that no-one in the League has a better strikeforce.

Considering our formation generally involves just one out and out striker, I can't see the sense in signing another - but each to their own, I suppose

Agreed, but we need to build a quality team so that the next set of Brightwells, Lake's, White's and Hinchliffe's come into a team which won't rely upon them to win games. The rags did this before , scholes, giggs, butt, beckham and the neville sisters came along. Its what Barca and (love them or hate them), Arsenal are doing. The quality of youth player will be so high in the future they will force there way onto the team on merit and without the pressure of carrying the team.

Bit of both I guess, Tolmie overstating the case and fans reading way too much into his claims, time will tell. Mind you I do not recall seeing Tolmie stating Kaka by name or inference.

We were never going to spend big again until the summer and I think City have taken the opportunity to humour Twattini. The reality is that we were never going to bring more than one or two in via the Jan window because the CL is in full swing and it's a shite time to buy.

I think we might need to do something about the striker situation, tbough, depending on how long Baolotelli is out for.

I dont think we will be "spending big" in the summer either. And balotelli is out for 1 month. This will mean we need Dzeko more. And Jo will also get more playing time :(((

But I do think we will see one more addition to the squad before January ends, and I hope it will be a creative/attacking midfielder. Without Silva we look far too reduced in capacity, and this surely must be addressed by the management.

And maybe with Balotellis's injury, we will look around for a replacement.
