No Smoke Without Fire?

I don't think there is any corruption. Fact of the matter is they scored 3, Blackpool scored 2, if they had our defending nous they would of shut shop. Stupid twat Holloway though is to proud for that and hence lost the game. United are just one of those teams that thrive upon a team that is settled into doing them over, how many times has it happened since 99. Say what you want about the ref but if you don't play the football and defend your lead you will lose.

Definitely a penalty though.

There are different types of corruption, Lloydie just gave you an excellent recap of one that I was also suggesting in my post above. There is no money changing hands (actually there is, as they get to keep and extend their contracts or whatever, but that's very indirect), there is no conspiracy as there is technically no explicit agreement of any sort. Just "the rules of the game" and "wink wink", to which you adopt and potentially make it, or you don't and at best keep ref-ing matches no one's ever heard of, but you keep your backbone intact... Depends on what you find more important, your backbone or your mortgages, and people in general (not only refs) tend to choose, what?

Surely though, if it's a stonewall penalty which for me it was. A ref would get marked down for making a wrong decision? Clattenberg for example, the fiasco with Nani vs Spurs, how is it possible he'd get a good review at the selection board after that performance.

I know what people are saying decisions go sometimes in your favour sometimes they don't. Fact is though a team should focus on playing the match and not the referee. Yes it was a penalty and he didn't give it but they were winning 2-0, if they defended properly Blackpool would of won.

If United had been given 3 penalties i'd understand maybe something dodgy was going on but i'm not a subscriber to the view that referees are in any way lenient to any particular set of teams. Blackpool were in pole position to win that game but their stupid manager decided to go for the 3rd and it cost them the game! I've seen decisions go against them this year i've seen them go for them. It's just how you deal with it that matters, they got on with the game and Blackpool came apart and there was the end result unfortunately....

One doesn't exclude the other. Yes, the players should keep playing and all that, yes it was a penalty (look beyond it, though, it's not the first nor the last one), yes decisions go against them sometimes, and all that but it's a NUMBERS game... Just because you win at roulette sometimes, it doesn't make you a good gambler, the rules (and the numbers) are set to slightly favour the casino. Similar here.

If you are waiting for three penalties in a row, then, frankly, fuck it.

they win.why cant they have some bad luck sometime or any referee decision against them

Correct, we went to Blackpool and scored an offside goal and they had a good goal disallowed. We left with the 3 points that day because of two bad decisions that went our way. Did any of you nesbits come on here saying that we bought the ref? It makes me cringe when I read some of the stuff on here.

Someone made a good point about the Drogba offside goal that gave Chelsea the title, or the Bowyer handball at Brum, or the silly sending off of Donatello against spudz. I'm sure there's been plenty more decisions go against the rags this season, but I'm not the sort of oddball who is going to spend anytime worrying about it. You play the team infront of you, you win by scoring more goals than them. They stuck 3 past Blackpool in 15 mins. Stop whining like spoilt little girls and get on with it.

What about the goal Birmingham scored as an equalizer against them?

Or Drogba's goal pretty obviously offside last season...Shit decisions are given every week. In fact, pretty much week in week out, on fan sites, teams are debating the decisions against them or laughing at decisions for them. It's football. There's been some absolute shockers this season, it's only because it's United, it's highlighted that much.

One has to either have tunnel vision, be in denial, not have a clue, or be in puberty not to see the obvious. When I read some of these posts, I get a feeling I am reading 13-15 year olds, for better or worse.

Any chance some meaningful age check/limit could be applied?
