North Stand Construction Discussion

Exactly my point ;)

Why put windows on entire lengths of a windowless room. Twice.
Out of mild interest, what do you think should be there? With the VR experience stuff and the museum over those two floors having clear windows wouldn't have worked, so black glass looks (to my mind) good.

Penalty clauses on construction projects are not legal.

They call them liquidated damages. This provides for compensation to the client for late completion. They is based on a 'reasonable' pre-estimate of losses caused by the delayed handover rather than a punishment to the contractor.

If applicable, the damages would include for losses through reduced ticket sales. It is almost certain that the contract would include provision for compensation for late completion.
thanks for that

I didn't argue it doesn't look 'good', really. Just that it is illogical, counterintuitive, odd, discordant etc..

I don't think it looks great as such, but could have been much worse, and the blackened glass is probably the best of what could have been done. Given however that it wasn't designed like that from the start, and they had 2 formal amendments to the approval to get it like this, it clearly wasnt the initial choice, wild/bold or not. I think I have a valid enough point, the two things (facade desing vs museum ultimate layout) are inherently at odds with each other. Which in this forum and topic is fine to point out imo.

12% being hospitality and fancy seats is mad

7%.

Of the tier, which is the context of the discussion at hand.

Bear in mind that may have now changed, depending on whether the lower tier hospitality is a replacement or additional.

Edit, yes 12% overall including the skybar and vip, but they are on a separate level, the few posts prior were relative to the single tier portion.

Don’t know if it’s already been posted on here as haven’t followed the thread for a while, but FK Group who did the design and install for the cladding as a subbie have gone bust.

I would imagine it's to future proof it , so it can be adapted to other uses

That would be good yes, but it is not the case. Not with the way it is constructed, which we noticed some time ago.

Yeah it was reported somewhere amongst the seat discussion posts

Forgive me for being pedantic but surely the design of the cladding is part of the architectural package ( not that it really matters ! )
Sorry it sure is but, despite this being about construct and there being a dedicated thread for seats we seem to cover seats more
