North Stand Construction Discussion

Will the crane be up today??
It looks complete from that picture but jrb thinks it'll be completed today. Although that may be the crane that was put up by the other crane in order to put up the big crane, I've lost count.

TBH I thought it would take until the end of the week to get it completed. There won't be any work on it today as it's a match day if it isn't completed. We'll find out later on.:-)

The problem with me is the dire situation on the railways at weekends. I was unable to source a train ticket for numerous matches this season and last. Both TPE and especially Avanti are rubbish with last minute cancellations and refusal to sell Advance tickets in case the train is cancelled and they have to pay compensation.

We usually ended up travelling East Coast from Edinburgh, changing at York or Leeds. They will either not quote a fare to Manchester via York or put a ridiculous fare up. So we book to York or Leeds and then pay the excess on the train or at Victoria Station.

For a lot of matches, this was not possible so I ended up selling our tickets on the Exchange. The only reason we renewed this season was to ensure tickets for the big matches at Wembley. I am not sure I will go through the same fiasco next season?
Don't give your season ticket up !!!

Im answering those who think the east and west stands could be extended similar to the south and north stands
It is entirely feasible to extend the upper rows towards the corners and modify the existing roof and as you suggest above it’s what engineers do
There is a need to accommodate large screens though
When the south stand was extended it was suggested that the corner solutions would likely not br a permanent ones
Sorry my mistake.

There are plenty of creative ways the screens can be incorporated. If you look at Wembley or West Ham, even Schalke with them suspended over the centre circle.

I'm sure we can and will fit more in!

That is part of the enclosed roof design with the structure under the roof supporting the monitors and would need anew stadium.

The Wembley or west ham screens could be incorporated in a future new stand but lose prime seats to do it.
