I totally disagree. I think NSL1 will remain seated and a significant part of NSL2 will be rail seating. That will be the incentive for people to move. There’s no point in building this new stand - in the configuration they have unless you do this. The club will hopefully use the South Stand for day trippers and will want our core vocal support in the North Stand. Our owners are not stupid - improving the stadium atmosphere is actually key to selling expensive corporate/hospitality packages.

Why would you want the south stand to be used for day trippers? Plenty of space in Colin bell and east. Both ends should be atmosphere focused.

Surely the plan for the new stand should be build on what we have already as opposed to taking people out of the south stand and filling with tourists.

You are right, and I'm pretty sure bluesmith previously mentioned it was seats priced and being built.

But I have seen how quickly this change can happen, at Celtic's stadium for example, once the infrastructure is in place. They didn't even have the infrastructure, they did it through a phased process, part of which never even happened but was enough to enable the change to safe standing, and within a summer it had swapped over for the following season.

None of us know what their long term thinking is, we are all guessing. Maybe they feel the jump to rails for the whole new stand is too sudden, till they fill the seats or get people to move. No idea. But I don't think the option is off the table though, beyond the immediate.

As you say, we're all guessing. And we'll all continue guessing until the club finally makes public their plans for the North stand.

'Safe standing as a 'future option' gives the club plenty of wiggle room now and into the future. The club aren't committing to it, neither are they dismissing it. It's a possibility.

I'm of the opinion the club will start off with seating on both levels and see how that plays out over a period of time before committing to safe standing on either level.

An early compromise to appease the fans would be to install a trial safe standing block in one of the top corners on NSL2. If that works more safe standing blocks could be added on NSL2 in the future.

It doesn't need planning permission it just needs to meet the regulations, so they only really needed to put it in as a potential option within the application. Get the right people in there first, and then see where it goes. If loads of people are standing the club would be much better installing safe standing than booting them all out that's for sure!

Stand corrected. The Ambulant seating is on row 11 directly behind the GA+ hospitality section.(?) And on the bottom isle of each bottom outer block next to the steps for easy access. Shown in the PA.

Clubs must meet strict criteria to offer licensed standing areas in their grounds. The research found this continued to be reasonable and fit for purpose, and includes:

• The necessary infrastructure – such as seats with barriers/independent barriers – which must be in both home and away sections.
• Fans must be able to sit or stand in the licensed areas – the seats cannot be locked in the ‘up’ or ‘down’ position.
• There must also be one seat/space per person.
• The licensed standing areas must not impact the viewing standards or other fans, including disabled fans.

The fans in GA+ will have to remain seated so they don't obstruct the view of the Ambulant seated fans behind them. No standing up in GA+.

Rail seating was first introduced in two areas of Anfield during the 2020-21 close season following a safety review by the SGSA. The initial trial saw 7,800 rail seats installed on the Kop and the lower tier of the Anfield Road Stand. A second phase saw a further 2,500 rail seats introduced to the Kop during last season's break for the winter World Cup.

The latest installation phase took place this summer when a further 3,000 rail seats were placed on the Kop, in the remainder of blocks 202-208, up to row 33.

This took the total to 7,425 rail seats on the Kop, just over 55 per cent of stand capacity. The club plans to extend rail seating on the Kop next year to blocks 102-108, up to row 13.

You know people in ambulant zones can stand too, right? They are not wheelchair spaces, or is that group necessarily seat bound. It is more about their proximity to facilities, than it is about being sat down. They are there because of the ease of access to movement routes, toilets, etc, not because the 648 arent expected to budge in front of them.
